Kotora Ramen Le Plateau-Mont-Royal, Montreal: Menu, Reviews & Reservations (2026)
RamenAsianDumplingsJapanese
Specializing in Mazemen (brothless ramen), our restaurant offers a bold and modern take on Japanese ramen. Mazemen is served without soup, allowing the rich sauce, aromatic oils, and thick noodles to fully coat every bite. Designed to be mixed before eating, it delivers deeper flavors and a more satisfying texture than traditional ramen. Alongside our signature mazemen, we also offer a small selection of carefully crafted ramen and Japanese comfort dishes — simple, focused, and made for flavor.

Review Summary

Kotora Ramen is described as a warm, compact spot with cute decor and a friendly staff, where mazemen and ramen options like tonkotsu and unagi are praised for flavor and texture and the overall experience feels comforting, with some reviews noting a bit of Japan in Montreal. The vibe is often described as cozy and welcoming, the decor is praised, and the service is frequently highlighted as nice, though the space is small and seating can be limited, sometimes requiring a wait. Some dishes are noted as too salty, cold, or lacking in toppings or freshness, with a few instances of reheated meals, while other orders like shrimp tempura, karaage or gyozas receive praise. Overall, the place is recommended for mazemen and ramen, offering a mix of standout and average experiences, but consistency varies and portions or temperatures can be a concern.

I had the tonkotsu mazeman & seaweed salad & my boyfriend had the spicy tonkotsu ramen & karaage. Everything was delicious, & we especially loved the karaage. The employees were also super nice & the atmosphere was cozy. Looking forward to returning!

a very intimate & cozy restaurant to have some really delicious & affordable noodles! the bowls are surprisingly well-priced & are in big portions. for a regular tonkotsu ramen, it's around $16.99. the decor & the atmosphere is great for pictures as well.

there are not many seatings however, so plan your visit carefully, it's been a very popular spot lately!

Cozy neighborhood gem! They make the best with the space that they have, garnishing the walls with small tokens & plushies - quite cute! The food is reasonably priced, with good portions. We've been here 4 times already, & will definitely be back!

I tried the tonkatsu ramen. The highlights: rich, creamy broth with deep flavor, generous portion, & perfectly chewy noodles that held up well. The chashu was tender & tasty, adding a nice balance to the dish. On the downside, the broth was a bit too salty for my liking, & I wish the egg had a more jammy center. Overall, a satisfying bowl in a cozy setting-definitely worth trying if you're a fan of hearty ramen!

Here's a honest review: Aesthetics are immaculate. My Sukiyaki Mazemen was delightful with every bite & the service was top notch!

As this become more popular, be aware that the shop is a small, cozy little dining place & you may not have a seat immediately. Prepare accordingly!
