Thy "Liem" Tran and Thinh Pham, better known as the one and only "Sushiman," have owned the restaurant since 2003. With their partner from Mikado Laurier going into semi-retirement, the timing was right to carve a new identity. All of the Mikado Monkland staples customers have grown to love and became loyal allies in our adventure. Through the years, Sushiman and his team have introduced some new sushi creations to go along with such favorites as the sushi pizza, salmon tartar, ebi gyoza, chicken/salmon/steak/shrimp teriyaki and rolls like the Happy, Relax, NDG, R-8, Paradise and Hampstead.
Japanese cuisine is an art in which aesthetics stem from product freshness and quality where preparation is as critical as presentation. The dishes must be pleasing both to the palate and the eye, making Japanese cuisine a truly sensual and sensory experience.

I heard they are changing owners & adding new sushi specials & different dishes… we tried the fried shiitake as an appetizer, it was so tasty & different. They have my interest now & I will come back to try more of their new items on the menu. The service was great & the atmosphere was cosy & relaxing… I will come back for more….😻😋😍
I had a fantastic experience at Kiku Sushi! The atmosphere was cozy & welcoming, with a modern yet traditional aesthetic that made it perfect for a casual night out or a special occasion. The staff were friendly, attentive, & knowledgeable, making great recommendations based on our preferences.
The sushi itself was incredibly fresh & beautifully presented. Every piece had a clean, delicate flavor that highlighted the quality of the ingredients. I especially enjoyed the rolls Kiku roll, california ,tempura roll,NDG roll & & their sushi sashimi was fresh, the kitchen dishes were just very good,it was perfectly balanced & absolutely delicious. The variety on the menu also impressed me, with both classic options & creative specialty rolls.
Kiku is definitely a spot I'll be coming back to. If you're a sushi lover or just looking to try something new, I highly recommend giving this place a try!
This place is a hidden gem. After our trip in Japan This is the One that we found the most similar to tradition restaurants we ate in Japan, quality & artistic plates. It also had many choices for all tastes price is very reasonable for that kind of quality. Atmosphere is very nice: Zen & relax, Very friendly service & respectful. We can tell they take pride in making this dishes.
The reviews are misleading. This Japanese restaurant is average & overpriced for the quality. Dishes nicely prepared but the flavors have really nothing exceptional: tasteless fish, freshness questionable, suhis were ok. As for the service, the waiter was very nice but he was unable to recommend sake or dishes: he just point out dishes on the menu which in the end were disappointing: The tuna starter was very disappointing. The Bento dish with the chef's 5 specialties, very average. Won't go back!
