I went for dinner with a few friends & the experience was amazing. The service was great & the food was delicious.
I got the Table D'Hote #1 with the lentil soup, Ashak (leek dumplings), & kabuli palaw. The soup tasted like traditional dal, very nice. The Ashak was amazing, basically dumplings with a different flavor. The Kabuli Palaw was truly the star! The rice was soft, the lamb was melting off the bone.
The staff was really nice, very attentive but not hovering. You could really take your time sitting there, eating food, & enjoying conversations. Highly recommend!
Fantastic dining experience from start to finish ! It was our first time, but won't be our last. This BYOW Afghan resto had ambiance & amazing food at reasonable prices, & great service.
We had the table d'hote #2 to try as much as possible. Started with a delicious lentil soup, followed by a massive Kabuli Palaw (roasted fork-tender lamb shank) accompanied by a huge plate of savory brown basmati rice, flavoured with afghan spices, raisins & carrot juliennes. Absolute amazing !
Other lamb dishes sampled were the Sabzi Chalaw (with spinach) & Korma Chalaw (tomato based), all equally delicious. Reservations are recommended, although we didn't have to wait at all, & it was Valentine's Day !

A beautiful restaurant with delicious food. This restaurant beautiful inside & outside is bring your own wine. Great variety of food. Had the veggie combo, with okra, cauliflower, eggplant & spinach with 3 different rice, all yummy 😋 loved the service 😁🤠
We took a while to get going with our meal because the restaurant was quite busy when we arrived (the server warned us). But the service was fast & the food was delicious. Lamb shanks (whichever variety) is a must have. The vegetarian platter (ladies finger, egg plant, cauliflower & mixed greens) was fantastic. The trio of basmati rice is a wonderful accompaniment. We brought a bottle of red wine to enjoy with our meal, sitting outside in the courtyard. Authentic & generous portions.
Went here with my classmate. OMG it was really good dinner. We sat on the terasse but our food was still piping hot. Everything was delicious. The rice was so flavorul, the salad was savoury & the chicken. Oh mon dieu the chicken was incredible. It was falling off the bone & the pasta sauce didn't taste tomato-y. Everything went so well. I will definitely be coming back & recommending. The servers were very fast & friendly as well. The table beside us was rather noisey but beside that. Best dinner I've had in MTL since I've moved & the Price was so worth it.

I've visited Khyber Pass a few times over the years, & it's always a memorable experience.
The restaurant has a cozy Afghan atmosphere, generous portions, & dishes full of rich flavor.
Their meats are tender, the rice is aromatic, & the fresh herbs & chutneys balance everything beautifully. Service is friendly & relaxed, which matches the laid-back vibe.
A great spot in Montreal if you want authentic Afghan food.
Cozy restaurant with great Afghanistan food. I got the Kabuli Palaw with lamb shank, a very filling rice dish with spices & raisins making for a savory & fruity combination. The rice pudding was really good, it was sweet, floral, & subtle with warming cardamom spice.
Not only the best Afghan food I've ever had, but probably one of the best MEALS I've ever had in my life. Everything down to the last kernel of rice was aromatic, delectably spiced, & tender. I previously had a favorite lentil soup at another place, but Khyber Pass has dethroned that other lentil soup. The rose pudding was creamy & comforting.
The service was rapid & impeccable.
This is definitely a restaurant/cuisine for you if you appreciate cardamom.
I will say that the menu is mostly focused on meat dishes, however, I actually did an entirely vegetarian spread when I went, & it was scrumptious. I was also pleasantly surprised by the post-dinner tea. I am very much a snob about tea, so often expect to be disappointed by something served in a restaurant, but it was really nice & smooth.
The korme chelow & filet mignon were both flavorful & well-prepared, but the ratio of meat to rice was a bit off. The rice portion was noticeably small, leaving the dish feeling unbalanced. A more generous serving of rice would have made the meal more complete.

Nestled in the heart of Montreal, Khyber Pass offers an authentic taste of Afghan cuisine that delights the senses. The lamb kebab & shank are simply excellent - tender, flavourful, & perfectly seasoned. The rice, infused with interesting spices, complements the dishes beautifully. The table d'hote menu provided a generous selection at a very fair price, making it a great value for money. One of the highlights is the beautiful terrasse in the back, providing a peaceful & charming ambiance for outdoor dining. For drinks, it is BYOB, maybe add some non-alcoholic beer? Just a thought 😊. The cardamom-infused green tea is fabulous, but served in a small cup, & the waiter did not offer a refill, which was a slight letdown. Despite this, the overall experience at Khyberpass was delightful, & it is a must-visit for anyone looking to explore Afghan flavours in Montreal.
I recently dined at Khyber Pass, an Afghan restaurant, & had a mixed experience. The lentil soup was delicious, & the Korma chalaw offered a variety of rice, though it was just okay & not much tasty, & the rice was a bit cold. The rose water pudding & tea were delightful. It's a small venue, so reservations are recommended. However, the overall experience felt overpriced. Bring your wine, as the restaurant doesn't offer alcoholic drinks.
This restaurant used to be one of my favorite in the area. I was there last night & ordered my usual. The piece of meat was so small they covered it with rice so that I could not see it.
Very disappointed.unfortunately I did not have my phone.with me so no photos...
Great spot for Afghan food in the mile end. I had the table d’hôte with Kabuli Palaw. The lamb was tender & fall off the bone, the rice was very flavourful. The rose pistachio pudding was delicious. BYOB, good portion size & the staff were kind & attentive.
