Review Summary

Kalapaw is widely recognized as a top destination in Montreal for authentic Filipino comfort food, featuring a spacious, well-decorated interior and convenient parking. Many patrons praise the generous portion sizes, the quality of staples like crispy pata, adobo, and the halo halo dessert, noting that the restaurant offers a warm, family-friendly atmosphere that feels like a true taste of home. While the majority of visitors highlight the welcoming and professional staff, there are recurring reports of inconsistent service speeds and communication challenges during busy periods. Although experiences with wait times and administrative processes can vary, the overall sentiment remains positive, with many diners eager to return for the flavorful dishes and vibrant dining environment.

Excellente nourriture mais le service était très ordinaire, nous avons dû nous servir nous même. Très déçue du fait qu'il n'y ait pas de table à langer dans les toilettes, donc pas baby friendly.

Ive been coming here since they have been around. We always come back for the food but their service is top notch. Ran into an issue & the owner & cook fixed it right away. A true gem. Thank you.

The waiting time for take out is crazy long. I ordered 12:53 & got my order at around 1:30. When I arrived the couple before me who wants take out backed out because waiting time is 1 hr. , (I assumed they have more order than me)Shouldve been my hint 🤣 I ordered anyway coz Im really craving filipino food (the restaurant I usually go to didnt have take out that day)
& its just 1 order, inasal & rice. While waiting, there was a family at the bar (I thought they are also ordering take out) but they were given plates & etc. after sometime i looked again at their direction I thought they were done eating but i realized their food wasnt served even. 😬 they cancelled eventually coz they were told 20mins more.

You seriously need to improve your preparation time.

The service was great. Very warm, very professional & quick to respond.

Huge interior with nice decors.

Plenty of parking.

Food: i was told by my friends that they had the best-tasting Filipino food in Montreal so we tried some yesterday. We ordered the platter. I didnt find the mix of skewered items to be that flavorful considering the rich marinades & sauces that we have in the Philippines- it just didnt show. Out of everything we ordered, the calamari stood out the most.

People told me that Halo-halo was their best food item in the menu but by thr time we finished dinner, they were about to close so maybe next time.

I ordered for takeout, & the wait time was crazy. It took around 40 minutes for only three items, most of which were just fried food. Since it was a to-go order, I expected it to be quicker, but it felt like dine-in customers were being prioritized over takeout orders.

The lumpia, it was still pink inside, not sure whether it was fully cooked. Overall, the experience was disappointing due to the long wait & food quality issues.

Our food was somehow sent to another table & it was too late in the evening to order again. We payed for our overpriced sodas & left.

Variety of dishes perhaps the food in a style of a province in PH🇵🇭, I never seen a lechon kawali looking like crispy pata tossed in a sinigang before 🤣 Maybe it just me I came from Manila & I dont like my crispy pata soggy in a soup. The food gets cold fast, perhaps invest on a hot plate or a plug-in pot.. the place is spacious enough to have those equipment around. The crispy pata side sauce was diluted & it came in half an ounce remkin.. it should be at least 3oz
