Absolutely delicious sandwiches & fries. The fried chicken & need sandwiches were absolutely delicious. They bake the bread in front of you & they then take the still warm bread & make the sandwiches in front in your. Both sandwiches we got were fresh, light, delicious & get filling all at the same time. The fries were well done & well salted too. The outdoor patio was bustling & a nice place to hang out as well.
Definitely give them a try & you won't be disappointed.
My friend really suggested that I try this place, as their chicken sandwich was out of this world. The sign in front even claims it is LEGENDARY...
*I'll be the judge of that*
Well, we sat down in the park right in front of the restaurant to chow down & let me tell you, it really was a great freakin' sandwich. 10/10, did not disappoint.
The beef one is tasty, but doesn't hit like the chicken.
The homemade Merguez sandwich is also worth a try.
The bread is amazing, they bake it fresh for each order.
You should try this place, at least!
Kahwa is ok ... their sandwiches are tasty, but not exquisite. The only special thing about this café is how the bread is freshly baked in front of you. In Arabic,'kahwa' means coffee, so maybe that's their specialty, but coffee is not a drink you have with a sandwich, so I didn't try it. Plus, two thirds of the store space is dedicated to sandwiches, so it doesn't give you the impression that you must try their coffee. Either way, it's a good spot to try in Montréal, I just didn't understand the hype.
i was a little disappointed with my visit. the bread is excellent & homemade, which was quite good, but the overall experience just wasnt up to the restaurants reputation. also, there was a water feature running when I was there & it splashed all over the counter. it is a shame because the place looks nice, but having water spraying everywhere is js not very hygienic imo
As a Montrealer, I dub Kahwa Cafe the Mediterranean Schwartz of Montreal. With its hole in the wall location, long lineups & simple menu, it serves hundreds of sandwiches daily to lots of happy customers. It's a unique experience with the bread baked onsite. I had the Kebab Libre with lamb & beef-the portion sizes are very generous & the quality of the meat is excellent. The staff are super friendly & accommodating, as well.
I'm really a sandwich person 😀 & I've tried many sandwiches in Montreal, but I can say Kahwa Cafe is definitely one of my top five. The flavor was excellent & the combination of ingredients worked really well together. I especially liked the cucumber in the sandwich, it added a fresh touch that made it stand out. The bread, chicken, & lamb were all delicious, & the ingredients tasted fresh.
What I liked was that everything felt well prepared & balanced. We had a very good experience here & really enjoyed the food.
I'm sure I'll come back again & try more from the menu. Definitely a place worth visiting if you enjoy good sandwich
