Atmosphere is very nice & the music was solid
The food sucked.. we ordered a couple dishes & the general Tao which what a lot of people order here was terrible. Even the table next to us returned it.
The service was terrible. Maybe our waitress was new but she didn't know anything about the menu & made mistakes on our order..
Also the terrace to sit outside seats like less than 6 people, so good luck siting outside
Dropped 200 bucks & left with a stomach ache definitely not coming back.View more
My friend & I came from Vancouver to visit Montreal & came across Jiao. We arrived at about 9:30pm & restaurant was completely dead . We orders 3 dishes plus one drink each .We had about three different servers two female & one male. As the night went on it got busier & we were asked to move tables to accommodate another group with a drink covered by the manager which we agreed. However my friend ordered an espresso martini which tasted like it had no alcohol . When she told one of the female servers she replied rudely " well isn't that the point to taste espresso & laughed . When it was time for the bill , no where on the bill does it say that it is mandatory to tip 18% . When I imputed my own tip the server then said oh sorry it's mandatory 18% because it covers employees wages. She imputed the extra $13 & made me pay. The bill came to be $154 per person which we paid separately. Besides the music which was the only good thing there I would not recommend this restaurantView more
If u r a tourist, don't care much about authentic Chinese food, cares more about chilling at a bar over overpriced food, fine. But as a Chinese who cares about food, it would be stupid to EAT there again. I have no issue with it's service & environment. While for the food, it's basically a westernized bar serving FAKE Chinese dishes. To make the matter worse, it's stupidly overpriced & tasting boring. 3 chicken wings costed 27$ + tax & NO rice ! How lucrative is that? & want rice? Sure, 5$ a tiny bowl! How about other things? Yea, 4 fried dumplings for $20 🤯I've been to countless bars serving foods, but rarely had I had foods so overpriced in such places.View more
I really enjoyed our experience. Service, music, & variety of dishes were fabulous. My one feedback would be that the dishes were quite salty. I would've loved to taste the fresh ingredients more especially the lobster, but the soy sauce was overpowering. Great spin on traditional dim sum!
Great combination of flavours on the dishes & descent cocktails. Good place for a nice dinner but be careful, be sure to be out before 10 pm because then the music volume goes up, & it's party mode & difficult to have a conversation. That vibe is also great if you want to have a nice 10 to 12 pre party meal, especially with friends.
Incredible selection of dishes & all freshly prepared. Highly recommend the new dish 'Kung Pao Chicken' absolutely delicious & so many fantastic flavours
The food was good but our service wasn't great. We had people in our group that had dietary restrictions & when the bus boy/serve brought our food, he couldn't tell us which dish was what. It left people in our party tasting food & guessing what it was which isn't ideal for people with dietary restrictions. We ended up ordering more food just for them because they weren't comfortable guessing if they can eat certain dishes (even though we had specifically ordered dishes for them-we just didn't know which ones they were & neither did the bus boy/server).
