Il Cortile is frequently celebrated as a hidden gem in downtown Montreal, particularly for its stunning, traditional outdoor courtyard that transports guests to an authentic Italian atmosphere. Many diners praise the restaurant for its delicious food, with highlights including the gnocchi, seafood pasta, and fresh ingredients, as well as the generous portions and complimentary gestures like dessert or drinks. While experiences with the service vary, many guests highlight the attentive, warm, and professional care provided by the staff, which often makes celebrations and special events feel memorable. Although some visitors noted inconsistencies regarding service speed during busy times and occasional feedback on specific dish preparations, the overall consensus points to a welcoming venue that successfully offers a cozy and traditional European dining experience.
We had our wedding lunch here, & it was a wonderful experience. Our lunch was held in the courtyard, & the ambiance was absolutely amazing. The courtyard is beautiful, with lots of flowers that created the perfect setting for our celebration. The setup was nice, the food was very good, & the staff were incredibly kind, attentive, & cooperative. They made everything so easy & stress-free for us. Thank you for helping make our special day so memorable. We highly recommend this place!
I really enjoyed my experience at this restaurant. The food was excellent, the service was great, & the atmosphere was absolutely beautiful. It all came together to make the experience feel special. I'll definitely be back.

Amazing restaurant with a beautiful courtyard & delicious food.
James was polite & courteous & made our evening special.
Will definitely visit again soon.
Great service, always present to serve wine. Beautiful little terrasse, far from the city noises. Had a great date with my girl, even had limoncello shots on the house! The garlic spaghetinni wasn't quite my type, but the shrimp fettucinnis were delicious!
I had my wedding last year in that place. We couldn't ask for a better day. The food was amazing & the terrasse is just so beautiful. The owner was really kind & made the planning easy for us. Would recommend that place to anyone & I'll be heading to Il Cortile for our yearly anniversaries.
I had my engagement party here last summer & it was truly perfect. The staff was absolutely amazing & went above & beyond to help set everything up-moving tables, adjusting the layout, & accommodating every request to make sure the setup was exactly how I envisioned it.
The food was excellent & all of our guests loved both the dishes & the beautiful decor of the restaurant. Having the space closed just for us on a sunny Sunday lunch created the most relaxed, special vibe, & honestly, nothing could have been better.
A huge thank you to Dino & the entire team for making this such a memorable & flawless experience. We're so grateful!
service was really slow, food took forever to came out. waiter was a nice man but it seemed like he was the only waiter taking care of customers in that entire restaurant. i did not see other waiters, only bussboys.
- the ricotta crêpe w spinach was 10/10, melt in your mouth really amazing
- linguini + meatballs was perfectly cooked but wayyyyyy too salty & sauce was a bit too watery. nothing crazy. i didn't ask for it to be changed because the service was *that* slow that i couldn't risk waiting another 40 mins.
- apple tart with ice cream was a flat 0, it was blatantly obvious that it wasn't house-made which you'd expect better from a restaurant like this. it was gummy & soggy & overall really bad. the vanilla ice cream paired with it was definitely breyer's, it sure tasted like it.
the atmosphere, however, is really beautiful & home-y, very traditional italian. i loved it.
