I've been there twice. Had their chicken, rice & salad plate the first time & it was so good, I ordered it again the second time. The chicken is sooooo tender & moist. Love it! The staff is so kind. Everything was prepared very quickly. It's got cute, funky decor- I love the chalk drawings on the wall. Would recommend it!
Food. The lowest quality I have ever experienced.
Horrible plating.
Cheap ingredients.
Poorly cooked or prepared.
Nothing really on a plate.
Seasoning very poor.
Service. The worst I have ever expedited. Little to no attention. Barely spoke English well & French was not much better.
Atmosphere. Cheap, loud & echoey, dark, no care went into the design to make it a nice customer experience.
We tried this place as it was new & love eating this type of cuisine.
We ordered the chicken plate & the pork chops.
There was barely any chicken, it was over cooked, hard, poorly seasoned. The noodles looked a day old & were under cooked & the other portion was all clumped together & could not even be separate lol.
The tiny half ounce of liquid in a metal portion control container was straight out of a bottle.
The two pieces of lettuce appeared to be unwashed & just placed into bowl to fill in space. It was a disaster.
The pork chop was even worse. Firstly the two pieces of pork were not considered to be chops. The thickness of each pork chop was around the same as a kraft cheese slices & individually wrapped yellow processed American cheese.
Second, tons of bone. Third, leathery dry & terribly overcooked & horrible (little) flavour. It came with rice which also tasted & chewed as if it were a day old rice, No flavour & was a complete joke. There were (again) two unwashed slices of lettuce with a couple of pickled veg which were more wilted than not.
This has to be the worst example of Asian food I have ever eaten. Moreover, not once did anyone come over to ask about how the food was or if we were enjoying our meal.
The table lacked cutlery, & napkins & we had to ask multiple times after being served to receive them.
They served two glasses of water & never came by to refill, which is just as well as it was room temperature, smelled off & tasted horrible & could not drink it. We were going to order a drink but no one came to ask if anything was ok.
I have never seen a lack of customer service in the foodservice & hospitality industry anywhere in the world - on four continents!!!
I don't know is this is a franchise or single owned restaurant, but if it were a franchise this is the wrist run & worst trained (or lack of training) I have experienced.
Go to Chez Lien or almost anywhere else, this local eatery had the opportunity to make a killing in this small & secluded Montreal west community if they provided good food & good service at a reasonable price. They failed on all points.
Oh, & don't even get me started on how much money I threw down the drain (which is where the food should have gone) for this waste of time & eating. Sadly I had not eaten all day & too tired to eat elsewhere or at home. I made the best of it. I also paid for that in the washroom that night & morning.
Never ever again!!
do not waste your time, money, energy, life etc going here.
So obviously I will never return or try another location for that matter.
This restaurant is rated 4.5 stars, but unfortunately my experience did not reflect that rating at all. The service was unpleasant & unwelcoming. I was also surprised to find that nearly everything on the menu is an add-on rather than a standard combo. For example, a chicken plate with beef as an add-on costs an additional $5 plus tax, & adding shrimp is another $5 on top of that, which adds up quickly.
The soup was difficult to eat as it was served in a very small bowl (as shown in the picture), making it impractical. Utensils were dirty, to make matters worse, my food arrived cold.
I've been to many Vietnamese restaurants, & unfortunately this was by far the worst experience I've had.
Nice atmosphere. Services was fast. The soup meal was ok. It was served with fresh basil & sprouts. I found the beef a bit tough so I would stick to the chicken next time.
Portions are way smaller than their other locations (ignore their responses saying they're not) & the cooking quality varies. Chicken is dry & or overcooked
I ate I AM PHO in downtown & Cote des neiges many times. I like them both so when I saw there was a new location near my place, I decided to go.
I took the grilled chicken on rice... the chicken was too hard. They must have grilled them too long or grilled them twice. It lacked of juice & it was dried. On top,I had 2 pieces only. The amount compared to downtown & Cote des-neiges was smaller. I ordered to pick up so maybe if I ate there would be different. Nonetheless, I do not think I would go back to this location because the taste was not the same compared to the two locations I have been. Flavorless.
