About

Hurley's Irish Pub delivers an authentic atmosphere defined by traditional woodwork and a robust selection of imported stouts. The menu centers on classic pub fare, featuring signature beer-battered fish and chips served with house-made tartar sauce and thick-cut fries. Hearty portions of shepherd's pie highlight the commitment to consistent comfort food staples that satisfy guests seeking substantial plates. The environment incorporates communal seating and low-level lighting to maintain a standard pub aesthetic throughout the space. Patrons engage with a focused menu that prioritizes flavor and preparation over culinary complexity. This establishment functions as a primary hub for those desiring a straightforward dining experience centered on long-standing Irish recipes and cold beverages. Every component of the culinary output maintains the expected profile of a dedicated pub focused on traditional regional staples.

Review Summary

Hurley's Irish Pub is widely considered a staple of downtown Montreal, celebrated for its authentic atmosphere, live musical performances, and an impressive selection of Irish beers on tap, including perfectly poured Guinness. The establishment features a variety of unique seating areas, ranging from cozy nooks to a pleasant back courtyard, making it suitable for both lively gatherings and quiet conversations. While most guests praise the friendly and professional service, experiences with staff can be inconsistent during peak hours. Opinions regarding the food are mixed, with some patrons enjoying quality pub staples like fish and chips and wings, while others find the menu limited or the pricing high for the portion sizes. Despite occasional crowds and noise levels, the venue remains a beloved local institution where many return for the festive energy and consistent hospitality.

The vibes were great for a Friday night pub scene & the service was friendly. The problem is with the menu. It was more expensive than the quality is worth & there wasn't even the option for a plate of plain fries which means a person in our party was unable to eat anything. Anyone with dietary restrictions may have issues eating here.

Had a terrible experience. Went to enjoy a nice evening but things took a terrible turn.
We wanted to sit outside & there was one table & two chairs available. The waitress said if we can get more chairs we can sit. We were gathering chairs & the bouncer came running & charging us that we were stealing chairs & apparently we were not allowed to move chairs around. We told him that the waitress told us to move the chairs & we had asked the waitress & without listening to us started pushing us on the road. He pushed one of my friends & started yelling & said foul language. After he got physical with us, he almost punched & knocked one of friends glasses. He called us racists, the irony.
We have been students at the university nearby & never had this type of behavior from a bar bouncer at any other places nearby. The more we tried to reason with him, the more agitated he became. The students go there to unwind & we also went there to have a good time. I suggest the place should keep better bouncers who don't start a fight & more so don't start a wrongful fight. Really shameful & horrible experience. I hope other students be very careful of this place.

Stopped the music 25 minute before, the bartender, never served us until the very end to tell us our drink are too lomg to make. I'm a bartender. If you can't make 2 expresso martini plus 2 rum & coke in 20 minutes at least don't laugh at us & say that we are french people to your coworker like we are some sort of animal. Just say so & we'll be clever. Bald guy that worked on thursday 21

Good professional bartenders that know what they are doing. Great atmosphere with some Irish music. This is a real Irish pub & not a pretender. Did not try food so I don't know. Bathrooms are clean. It's a good stop. It does get crowded with college kids later on but they are fun.
