About

Hurley's Irish Pub delivers an authentic atmosphere defined by traditional woodwork and a robust selection of imported stouts. The menu centers on classic pub fare, featuring signature beer-battered fish and chips served with house-made tartar sauce and thick-cut fries. Hearty portions of shepherd's pie highlight the commitment to consistent comfort food staples that satisfy guests seeking substantial plates. The environment incorporates communal seating and low-level lighting to maintain a standard pub aesthetic throughout the space. Patrons engage with a focused menu that prioritizes flavor and preparation over culinary complexity. This establishment functions as a primary hub for those desiring a straightforward dining experience centered on long-standing Irish recipes and cold beverages. Every component of the culinary output maintains the expected profile of a dedicated pub focused on traditional regional staples.

Review Summary

Hurley's Irish Pub is widely considered a staple of downtown Montreal, celebrated for its authentic atmosphere, live musical performances, and an impressive selection of Irish beers on tap, including perfectly poured Guinness. The establishment features a variety of unique seating areas, ranging from cozy nooks to a pleasant back courtyard, making it suitable for both lively gatherings and quiet conversations. While most guests praise the friendly and professional service, experiences with staff can be inconsistent during peak hours. Opinions regarding the food are mixed, with some patrons enjoying quality pub staples like fish and chips and wings, while others find the menu limited or the pricing high for the portion sizes. Despite occasional crowds and noise levels, the venue remains a beloved local institution where many return for the festive energy and consistent hospitality.

Was in Montreal for the Canada & Ireland game, & at the recommendation of a local guy we took our self's to Hurley's , with about 5 others at the bar inside & a group of 6/8 outside, but Sorry guys the only thing Irish about this bar was the name, prices & few photos on the wall of irish GAA players, with also about 6 TV's on, all showing the same game & volume so high we moved to another side of the bar, which was equally as loud, we were shouting at each other, just crazy, so much so when our drink orders came down the bar man must have missed heard my order there was only 4 of us we had two pints of Guinness, even though I only ordered one, me thinking buy one get one free, (no such luck) didn't go to wast . Will we go back no, I will some day to issue a bill for hearing aids. Would i recommend to a fellow Irish person, No. , but that's just my opinion, ' sometimes if you don't want the answer, don't ask the question..

Me & my friend were unsure whether we needed to wait to be seated or not as they were busy, & since waitress looked busy we decided to wait & ask.
When we asked the waitress she replied with a rude/dismissive'well yeah, duh' reaction where we could visibly see her obviously rolling her eyes, we decided to go to another place after that.
I am not a picky person at all & I understand that especially during rush hour (it was a thursday) the job can get overwhelming, but we felt like the reaction from the waitress was very uncalled for & unwelcoming.

We had a large party of 15 so they gave us a room off of the main room. It was perfect! The service was amazing! The food was good but limited. Lots of beer to select

Came to Hurleys Irish pub catching the end of f1 weekend on the Sunday night, even though it was the most packed I've ever seen it. The bartender (Ethan) treated me & my girlfriend so kindly. Always smiling & even bought us a round. I'll recommend anyone to hurleys to look out for the skinny bartender with the buzz cut behind the bar. Will be back & definitely my go to spot for the thirsty nights.

good location. fun place to be . but everything else is very below average . the food is nothing i would miss, the service is slow & was very busy , i understand it was a busy weekend for formula & cannucks but you should have hired extra staff for that weekend instead of just treating it as a normal weekend & make every customer's evening worse

The behaviour of the staff is very unprofessional & rude, & we even faced racial slur without any provocation. Disgraceful is the least & most reserved way to explain the hospitality of the place. I would put a 0 or negative star if the option was there.
