About

Hurley's Irish Pub delivers an authentic atmosphere defined by traditional woodwork and a robust selection of imported stouts. The menu centers on classic pub fare, featuring signature beer-battered fish and chips served with house-made tartar sauce and thick-cut fries. Hearty portions of shepherd's pie highlight the commitment to consistent comfort food staples that satisfy guests seeking substantial plates. The environment incorporates communal seating and low-level lighting to maintain a standard pub aesthetic throughout the space. Patrons engage with a focused menu that prioritizes flavor and preparation over culinary complexity. This establishment functions as a primary hub for those desiring a straightforward dining experience centered on long-standing Irish recipes and cold beverages. Every component of the culinary output maintains the expected profile of a dedicated pub focused on traditional regional staples.

Review Summary

Hurley's Irish Pub is widely considered a staple of downtown Montreal, celebrated for its authentic atmosphere, live musical performances, and an impressive selection of Irish beers on tap, including perfectly poured Guinness. The establishment features a variety of unique seating areas, ranging from cozy nooks to a pleasant back courtyard, making it suitable for both lively gatherings and quiet conversations. While most guests praise the friendly and professional service, experiences with staff can be inconsistent during peak hours. Opinions regarding the food are mixed, with some patrons enjoying quality pub staples like fish and chips and wings, while others find the menu limited or the pricing high for the portion sizes. Despite occasional crowds and noise levels, the venue remains a beloved local institution where many return for the festive energy and consistent hospitality.

Le jeune serveuse, une amour, se force à nous servir plen français, malgré l'anglais comme langue première! À part l'eau tiède qui goutait un peu le carton, c'était bien!

Great food, great energy, very authentically Irish. First Irish bar I've seen with a real hurl up on the wall (if you don't know what that is look up hurling, crazy sport) which is great to see! Watched the Ireland Hungary game here & when Parrot's goal went in we all meant mental. Amazing atmosphere & the bar staff are all very friendly sound people. Highly recommend!

'Twas long ago, my last visit to this blessed place (early 90's), though every time think back to it, have a smile on my face & a song or two in my heart. Was worth the drive up from Maine to just be there, soaking in the live music on the weekends & enjoying the conversations with dear old friends, that you just met. At one point, copies of a few of the poems I wrote there, on bar napkins, used to hang on the wall. While I live in the west, now, & no longer drink spirits, if I am ever back Montreal way, will stop in again, & hope to make some new fond memories to add to those of before.
