Le service est souvent décrit comme chaleureux et efficace, mais des avis mentionnent des moments de lenteur ou d'inattention en période de grande affluence et une expérience cashless compliquée pour certains. Les cocktails obtiennent régulièrement les meilleures notes pour leur créativité et leur équilibre, avec une belle sélection de saké et de whiskys japonais; certains noms de cocktails sont cités comme Bunshin, Gempei ou Abe no Seithei et les plats accompagnant sont appréciés bien que le choix reste parfois limité et les portions peuvent sembler justes. This is a dark & sultry Japanese bar. It's perfect for a date or tryst. The cocktail menu is interesting & there's a good selection of sakes & sojus. A bar menu has a few mediocre bites. Service is cute but forgetful. Most people will love Gokudo because it seems like a hidden discovery.
I really enjoyed the experience I had at this bar. The service was polite & friendly, the interior decoration was remarkable & quite lovely, the drinks were fantastic & not too expensive. At least for the prices they charge, it was decent. My favourite thing about this bar is probably the fact that we had plenty of space at our table & around our table. It felt really spacious for once & we could really enjoy our drinks & talking to each other. The noise level was also just right, the music playing wasn't too loud or too quiet. The main downside however is probably that there is a longer wait time compared to a lot of other places. This comes back to the generous amount of space they give to each customer so there are less seats in consequence. But, I do feel like the wait time was worth it because I had an amazing time inside the bar.
Un magnifique "speakeasy" à l'ambiance japonisante. Les cocktails sont très bon, la décoration très belle & la musique a un volume parfait. On s'entends parler. Le service est professionnel & sympathique. J'y retournerais !
Gokudo is a wonderful place to hang out & relax on a couch with friends & a drink. Beautiful atmosphere with excellent service! It's best to go early though, say around 5pm or so, when it's less crowded, less noisy & much more comfortable for quiet discussion. I couldn't say that the cocktails are the best in town, & the food is good but nothing to rave about, but it's lots of fun, especially if you want to show friends from out of town a good time. Recently, I tried the Wagyu Shot, which was fine, but didn't blow my mind. I wish they were less westernized in taste, & had more of a Japanese hit of flavour, with a spice of wasabi.
Great place for those are looking to live the Japanese experience in downtown Montreal. For those who don't know, they have no reservations, so you have to wait for your turn to get in, the waiting ro6om is cool with Japanese decos, we've got served tea. I've enjoyed the cocktails, Gempei. I will definitely comeback to Gokudo.
Came with my bf to celebrate our anniversary! They sat us at the booth but we were extremely close to other people, so they moved us to the bar where we met Jordan. He's from Paris & there was a language barrier bc his English wasn't so good & our French was ..well Gr 9 French lol! Regardless he was so kind & made us really good cocktails, gave us free shots & made our night! He curated cocktails for us based on what we liked, so if you're up for the experience - definitely let him be creative :) we didn't get food bc we came from dinner so I can't really comment on that part!
Came last night & sooo very disappointed with the food. The drinks & ambience were good, but don't come for the food. I had the 28$ "poke" & it was sooo bland, the tuna didn't taste like anything, & the shrimps were tiny - the kind you buy frozen from a grocery store just thawed up. I also had the picked veggie appetizer which lacked flavour & was only mildly pickled. Don't waste your money for food here...
