Reviews for Gokku Sushi
I was reluctant to do this … as I want to encourage small businesses but this really crossed the line.
« Chef's choice » meant blended, unidentifiable fish - $60 for 35 pieces we couldn't eat
Ordered the chef's choice expecting a curated selection. What we got instead was rolls filled with fish that had been ground & blended together into a paste - no recognizable salmon, tuna, or anything you could identify by sight. The color alone was a red flag: dull, off, nothing like the fresh cuts you see at any reputable sushi spot. All three of us tried it & physically couldn't get it down. We brought it back.
Rather than acknowledge the problem, the staff were offended. We were told this is'the chef's choice' & that if we wanted normal sushi we should have ordered off the menu. That response tells you everything: blending unidentifiable trim into rolls & charging $60 for 35 pieces isn't a chef's vision - it's a way to move product you can't otherwise sell, dressed up as a premium experience.
Plenty of sushi places in this area do honest work with quality fish you can actually see. This was the opposite. I won't be back, & I'd steer anyone away from the'chef's choice' here.
Quick & friendly service. Absolutely delicious sushi. & super affordable. We love to see it.
Les meilleurs sushis que j'ai mangés depuis mes vacances au Japon. Copieux, beaux, bons, un régal !
Best chef in town for a calm & cozy fresh sushi & also every thing fresh from top to bottom their sushi 🤌
I am highly suspicious of all the 5 star reviews. The sushi was quite sub par. There was nothing special about it. It was overpriced, the rice was too chewy & the in person dining experience was underwhelming as everything was served in takeout containers.
