About

Garage Beirut serves authentic Lebanese and Middle Eastern dishes that emphasize traditional preparation methods and bold, aromatic spice profiles. The menu showcases a variety of charcoal-grilled meats, savory mezze platters, and fresh vegetable preparations rooted in Mediterranean culinary traditions. Guests interact with an environment defined by industrial-inspired aesthetics that contrast with the warmth of classic Levantine hospitality. Each plate focuses on the balance of textures, utilizing essential ingredients like tahini, zaatar, and hand-pressed olive oil to ground the flavor experience. This establishment prioritizes the integrity of regional staples by maintaining consistent standards for authentic preparation and plate presentation. The atmosphere remains structured around casual communal engagement, allowing the robust flavors of the Levant to take center stage in every serving provided to the patrons.

Review Summary

Garage Beirut is widely regarded as an authentic gem in Montreal, celebrated for its high-quality Lebanese cuisine, cozy atmosphere, and exceptionally warm service. Many guests praise the freshness and depth of flavor in dishes like the dip platters, grilled meats, and traditional mezze, often highlighting the restaurant's ability to recreate the nostalgic, homemade feel of classic Lebanese cooking. While the majority of diners find the food outstanding and the staff highly accommodating, some visitors express concerns regarding pricing, noting that portions can feel small relative to the cost. Additionally, due to the restaurant's small size and popularity, reservations are strongly recommended, though a few patrons have noted challenges with noise levels during busy hours or inconsistent experiences with portion sizes and value.

Food was incredibly bland & tasteless. The dips lacked a garlicky & olive oil taste. The rice lacked any aroma. The chicken & koftan were both bland, dry, & nothing special.

The food was good, but the service was unacceptable. We had to ask for basic things like menus & even to place our order, & then waited over 25 minutes just to get the bill. The staff showed zero accountability & came across as entitled.

Came here on a recommendation & brought friends visiting Montreal for their first Lebanese food experience. The food was good, but the service was extremely disappointing.

We weren't given menus until we asked, had to prompt the server to take our order, & no one checked on us throughout the meal. We even had to go up & ask for the bill ourselves, while other tables were served promptly & attentively.

It was hard not to notice the difference in treatment, as our experience felt noticeably worse than those around us. I spoke to a server after paying, but there was little accountability, & the situation was dismissed as the restaurant being'busy,' which didn't reflect what we observed & how other guests were served.

It seems to me that their service is a hit or miss from the reviews people have left. Their servers are entitled & obnoxious at times. I leave it to your discretion if you don't mind eating somewhere where the food might be good but you have to compromise the service. However, to me, if I'm going out to eat somewhere I look at the experience as a whole not just the food.

Overall, a disappointing & uncomfortable experience.

I liked everything about this place, especially the coziness & the warmth of the owners.
The food also was delicious, not the best I have tried but among the top 10.
The starters were really good!

Went last night with three friends & honestly… what a spot. Everything hit, the food was incredible, the wine selection was on point, & the whole vibe just worked. Huge shoutout to Youssef, our waiter, who made the night even better with top-tier service.

Saying this as a Lebanese who's VERY picky, this place is legit. A must-try. Prices are super reasonable for the quality, too.

& whatever you do, save room for the knafeh… easily the highlight of the night !

It was my first time visiting this restaurant & my 1st true authentic Lebanese fare. I had arak (alcohol) tastes like black licorice, kebeh, fattouch salad, kebabs. So flavorful! The place is tiny, about 10 tables.
