This place is a hidden gem & has authentic Lebanese food. It's a small place, so make sure to make a reservation to secure a table.
The food. Incredible. We had the fattoush salad, dip tasters, the shish taouk, shish taouk chilli chicken & the garlic potatoes. Everything was delicious, but I do have to highlight the garlic potatoes! The best I have ever had! The garlic dip & fresh pitas are also good. I also recommend the red house wine or a beruit beer.
The staff was very friendly & attentive. Made our experience that much better.
I will definitely be back.
The place is cozy & small, but the food & service are exceptional. If you're looking for authentic Lebanese cuisine, that's the spot in Montreal.
I recently visited Garage Beirut & had a mixed experience.
The fattoush was tasty & enjoyable. The sambousek was good as well, although it was missing the pine nuts that usually add an extra layer of flavor. The spinach fatayer was decent.
Unfortunately, the biggest disappointment was the fattet hummus. The dish contained plenty of nuts, bread, hummus, & yogurt, but it lacked the essential flavors that make this dish special. Where was the sumac? The cumin, garlic, mint, & rich taste of ghee? The overall flavor was surprisingly bland & underwhelming.
The khichkach was another letdown. The portion was very small, & it tasted more like kafta than the authentic khichkach one would expect.
Lastly, the knefeh seemed old rather than freshly made. The cheese was hard & lacked the soft, fresh texture that makes a great knefeh memorable.
Overall, while some dishes were enjoyable, several traditional favorites fell short of expectations, especially considering the reputation of the restaurant.
One more thing: the music. We used to hear beautiful Lebanese classics by feiruz & other authentic Lebanese artists. Unfortunately, the music selection no longer reflects that rich heritage.
It would be wonderful to bring back the classic Lebanese songs that so many of us grew up with.
It was my first time visiting this restaurant & my 1st true authentic Lebanese fare. I had arak (alcohol) tastes like black licorice, kebeh, fattouch salad, kebabs. So flavorful! The place is tiny, about 10 tables.
I've been in Montreal for five years & I can't believe I only had dinner at Garage last night. The food was incredible. One thing I really value about this restaurant is its authenticity & how the food is simply well done - Lebanese food as it should be - not an overpriced, complicated'story' of a dish.
Their kibbeh nayye was exactly how we'd eat it back home & it was amazing. The hummus, muhammara, cheese rolls, lahme sambusik, meat fatteh… wow.
Great experience, great ambiance, & great service. Thanks, Garage!
Absolutely outstanding experience at Garage Beirut! The food is truly authentic, rich in flavour & beautifully prepared, easily one of the best Lebanese meals I've had in Montreal. The hospitality was equally impressive. Alex & Yousaf his team provided exceptional customer service, making us feel genuinely welcomed & well taken care of. Highly recommended for anyone looking for authentic Middle Eastern cuisine & a great dining experience in downtown Montreal.
I asked a Lebanese person to suggest a good resto & he said this one has authentic Lebanese food. The food was delicious & the service was excellent. You need a reservation. Access is easy from the orange or green line.
An authentic Lebanese cuisine restaurant. Highly recommended! The team there is very friendly & the hospitality is great! The place is cozy & the food is delicious! This restaurant is on my favorites list!
