Very bad service and the food was not good.
The place is dirty.
No idea of how customer service works.
Will not go again.
Good food and good pirce,$8-$9/ea, not inclused tax, from the lunch special menu;they also have dimsum(chinese breakfast),all handmade, only cook when order is tooken which means food are fresh cook unlike other resto will premade 30 mins or an hour ago,and more tasty than the ones in chinatown. If u are working around,u should go for lunch. Monday to friday,u will get very good service since the business of the restaurant goes slow than at weekend. I enjoyed the foods and the hot herbal tea. Now,i do takeout at lease once a week
Probably the worst experience had in any restaurant. Went at around 4pm, right before dinner. Came in, saw the owners family having a meal were practically ignored for 2 minutes until they noticed my party of 3 (the restaurant was pretty much empty when I got it too).
Most disturbing experience at this restaurant: I witnessed one of the family members actually PUT BACK un-eaten rice into the rice cooker, to be later served to others and to my table. The waiter didn't care when I complained about what I saw... he just shrugged and took back the rice.
The food - not great. Ordered won ton soups (the broth tasted like tap water, not flavourful at all), the honey spare ribs weren't palatable, and the shrimp in oyster sauce - a ton of vegetables and 5 little shrimps.
Please avoid this restaurant...the owners treat it like their own living room/kitchen, where their family members can run around and do whatever they want, holding little regard for real paying customers.
Embarrassing experience!
My friend and I were very disappointed. Someone recommended the restaurant to my friend. We ordered 2 dim sum appetizers: pork shu mai (the pork was reddish pink inside so we sent it back and they brought some that were completely cooked a while later) and green peppers with a shrimp paste inside which were quite good. We both ordered the General Tao's chicken which came with rice and the soup we had was Hot and sour. The chicken came in oversized pieces which we had to cut and the sauce it was in was overly sweet. The soup was not as good as most restaurants Hot and sour soup. The portion size of the chicken was quite large.
LOVE LOVE LOVE the food! The restaurant is not the prettiest or most glamorous but the food makes up for it and you can always do takeout. We do take out from here at least once per month and you can never go wrong. Peanut butter chicken, chicken fried rice, general Tao and the Cantonese noodles are my favorites! No other place makes it like here!!!
This place is terrible compared to the original one on Cote-des-neiges or the new one in Laval. I don't understand how this could be related to the other restaurants. The decor is ugly and the service was slow. Food was drenched in sauce but each dish tasted the same even though they were suppose to be different. This is a very bad representation of Asian cuisine!!!
Don't bother with this location, go to the other Kam Shing restaurants.
This is by far one of the best Chinese restaurant west of Montreal. I don't mind driving from St-Lazare to enjoy the food. Which by the way, is always fresh and perfectly seasoned. No wonder, the chefs are Chinese! Service is very fast and overall good, although a bit 'spartan'. Decor is outdated and would need to be refreshed a bit. That being said, you go there for the quality of the food. Plenty of it , by the way. Green tea is included (request it).
went there at lunch and they were very rude due to the fact we were not dressded nice(work as mechanics and came for lunch)we all got our food except for 1 till we wanted to leave, this happened 3 times in a row till we stop going, itas too bad cause i used to go with my family till this happened and we dont think they deserve our hard erned dollars
C'est bon. C'est devenu très familial.
Le service est rapide et le prix est correct pour le souper. Mon plat préféré est le général tao.
We have been eating at New Kam Shing since the day it opened, and we have always had great food. We do order take-out from there at least once a week, but eat in about once a month. The food is always tasty and very fresh, and quite enjoyable. Prices are good and portions are huge. The Sushi, while not of the same high quality as a few other West Island restaurants, is a nice side.
Overall, I do recommend New Kam Shing to anyone looking for good Chinese food.

This well-known restaurant has been around for quite a few years. The prices are modest, the food is quite good and the portions are generous - excellent value. It is always a good sign for a Chinese restaurant when Chinese people go there...
