Flyjin serves predominantly Japanese fare but also explores flavours from China, Korea, Thailand and Vietnam. The 4-star dining experience has two services, one at 7pm and a second at 9:30pm. At 11pm, there is a metamorphosis of sound, lighting, service and music that redefine Flyjin as a bar. Flyjin has somethingLe Flyjin is a chic Asian Brasserie located in the heart of Old Montreal. Sophisticated and mysterious, it has a unique concept offering on the one hand a restaurant with Asian influences of about one hundred places, and also a vibrant bar where you can find a wide selection of Japanese whiskey, sakes, wines and exclusive Japanese beers. At the stroke of 11pm, the Flyjin transforms itself completely to take on the colors of the night and to welcome a crowd of clubbers in the its underground space. There is a metamorphosis of lighting and sound while the furniture is subtly moved around to allow for a dance floor that will soon be packed with people. From Wednesday to Saturday, Flyjin has much to offer foodies as well as night owls who like being surprised at every visit and who enjoy the beautiful, the good and the new. Whether as a group, a couple or alone, go with the flow knowing fully well that here, things are not always as they seem.

Review Summary

Flyjin is described as a stylish spot with consistently excellent food, strong, creative drinks, and a vibe that moves from chic dinner to lively club. The sushi and Asian inspired dishes are frequently praised, with favorites such as Oba Maki, toro nigiri, avocado crispy rice, and shrimp tempura roll standing out. The service is often highlighted as attentive and friendly even when busy, though some nights note high prices and a generally crowded, clubby atmosphere that can affect the experience. The atmosphere is repeatedly called energetic and fun, with a DJ and friendly bartenders contributing to a night that feels polished yet bustling, so arriving early for dinner is advised. A few experiences mention rude door staff and pricey drinks, and some lines to get in on weekend nights can be long, but overall reviews converge on Flyjin delivering great food, great drinks, and a memorable night out.

Incredible food & cocktails. Perfect ambiance for a special event or night out. Portions are fairly small for the price, but the quality of the food speaks for itself. We were a group of four, & everyone was amazed at how tasty everything was!

On a eu le menu de groupe, tout était vraiment excellent niveau nourriture! Cocktails/mocktails signatures bof & odeur d'encent très désagréable & trop présente. La musique lors de la portion'club' était mal choisie pour danser.

Last month's dinner at Flyjin reminded me why it's the heartbeat of Old Montréal's nightlife. Stepping into that signature red-lit, underground space is an instant vibe shift. It's moody, high-energy, & effortlessly cool.

We started with a massive platter of fresh oysters, followed by some of the best fusion sushi I've had lately. Perfectly paired wine & a cocktail list that actually matches the level of the kitchen.

It's rare to find a spot that nails the transition from a refined dinner to an electric lounge atmosphere so seamlessly.Between the incredible presentation & the'fit-check' worthy gold walls, it's a total sensory experience. If you're looking for a night out that feels like a main character moment, this is the spot.

Flyjin was such a vibe. We did a full course from the menu & everything was sooo good.

The avocado crispy rice was my fave, you have to try it if you go. Service was amazing even though it was super busy, & my cocktail was perfect (strong in the best way… didn't even need a second one).

I visited this club to enjoy a cocktail & some music, but I was pleasantly surprised by the incredible DJ. He perfectly matched the crowd's energy, & I didn't see a single person sitting down. While I missed the strobe lights, the overall ambiance was cool & safe. The people were pleasant, even as the club got crowded later in the evening.

The bartenders & staff were awesome! I'm really glad I got to experience the cool vibe of this club as a solo traveller.

Decent fusion (mostly) Asian food & cocktails, really liked their tacos, mushroom mix, & sushi platter. After 11pm it turns into a club, with good sets of DJs. Recommend if you like a fancy dinner with friends + nice house music.

Went to Flyjin on a Saturday evening to have some dinner & drinks. They started off strong with the sashimi & the cocktails as well. As the night went on it started to liven up & decided to order a bottle. When I asked if I could leave the bottle for another evening in the event I can't finish it, I was told yes & exchanged details with the bartender Juan. I tried making contact after that & instead got ghosted. Spent $250+ for the food & cocktails & $350+ for almost an entire bottle remaining as we left not long after & didn't get what was said. If you're getting a couple drinks & want decent food, go for it. Do not trust or expect anything beyond that except to get scammed out of a bottle if you leave it behind.

Our return to Flyjin was driven by the fantastic experience we had last year. Arriving with a group of girls for our annual trip, Jamie went above & beyond to ensure a memorable night for us. Despite a full coat check, he graciously handled our coats & even assisted in getting us drinks at the bar. The seamless entry on a busy Saturday night, coupled with consistently great vibes, made the night enjoyable. Expect fantastic dancing, an outstanding DJ, & exceptional customer service with delightful cocktails. We are already looking forward to coming back next year! Pro tip: Booking a table in advance is advisable as they tend to sell out quickly. Thank you Flyjin!

We went for dinner on a Saturday night. Usually, hip supperclubs do not have the best food, because most are going for the vibes. The food was AMAZING. Shilo was so helpful & friendly. The fig cocktail was amazing & unique.

Context: we came for dinner & stayed for the club.

The excellent: Service is fantastic. Top notch. This seems consistent across the board with all servers & ours was excellent as well as the other staff.

The good: Food is great. It's pricey, so know that coming in. It's definitely one of those places that will leave you hungry after ~$150 per person. The cod was the best I've had & I'm not a cod fan, but this cod, wow. Beef great. Dumplings were interesting. All prepared excellently. Very small portions.

Drinks were hit & miss. Espresso martini (with tequila) was amazing. Some others were not - whisky sour was weird, spicy tequila/fruity cocktail all right. Your mileage may very.

The iffy: Decor is... odd for this type of place. Sure, it's trendy. There's a lot of plywood involved & it leaves a musty musk in the entire place, & doubly bad if you go to the washrooms. Also plywood paneling. Seems like it was set up to get rebooted or torn out. Or maybe the building has water issues? Rest of the decor is as expected at the price point.

Club: it's a club. It gets pretty packed & not really much space for dancing so keep that in mind.

Would I go back or recommend? Probably not. Your mileage may vary. From a food/drink standpoint, there's other places I would try before circling back here since there was more "all right" than "wow" & at this price point everything could be "wow". It may be the club transformation that gets this place into a "jack-of-all-trades" situation.
