Not to many Mom & Pop Chinese restaurants left in the Villeray area. This is my go to place for regular Chinese food.(Chop Suey, Fried Rice, Spareribs, Egg roll, & Won-ton soup, & why not, Beef & Broccoli) The' Diner Deluxe' for two is what I usually order. Portions should be of equal sizes, I find some portions sizes to be small for 2 people, like their beef & broccoli,'where's the beef'? There should be no extra charge for changing items, as long as you are ordering food in the same combo group section, like at Fu-Lams on Jean-Talon east, where their portions are very generous.
To the owners of FamiLi, if you continue to penny pinch your customers with high prices, & small portions, you will not get my business anymore. Stop being cheap.
All in all, I give this Chinese Restaurant in Villeray a score of 6/10.
prices are good but you definitely get what you pay for. I ordered pineapple chicken & each bite was mostly bread with very little chicken. service was very friendly

Nous avons commandé un repas#6 53$ sans pourboire pour trois & nous avons seulement un pot de chaque mets c'était vraiment petit.
Ma place habituelle j'aurais eu deux fois plus.
C'est un proche qui m'a conseillé ce resto de quartier mais malheureusement Seul & dernière fois que je commande à cette endroit.
FamiLi, c'est notre petit resto préféré de "chinese american food" dans le quartier. C'est ultra rapide comme service & la commande est toujours complète. Nous sommes des fidèles depuis plus d'une dizaine d'années. Récemment, la salle à manger a réouvert, ce n'est donc plus seulement que pour du take-out.

G été servi en rentrant g commandé un général tao servi en moins de 8 minutes le général tao un peu piquent & bon servi dans une bol avec un pied en métal sa garde la chaleur du repas 👍 très bon service 👍👍

I've been ordering here for 4-5 years now & it always hits the spot. In a few dozen orders over the years, I've never had any bad surprises (taste, freshness, etc.)
To make one thing clear though, this is a very specific kind of "chinese" food - very americanized, 70's suburban strip mall. Some of the menu items should give it away (hot dogs in honey garlic sauce, beef macaroni..). Is it an authentic Chinese menu or fine dining? No. However, if you're looking for fried rice, classic egg rolls, bright red pineapple chicken, etc. then this really hits the spot. The won ton is very very doughy but I kind of like it this way. I also appreciate authentic regional Chinese cuisines, but I know what I'm getting when I order here so I'm not comparing the two.
Sure, they're cash only. Not the end of the world for me. When you order, they let you know so it's not a surprise. The prices are pretty low for the amount of food you get, & delivery is pretty quick & free. Can't complain.
This is a perhaps dated, old-school americanized Chinese restaurant in a quickly gentrifying neighbourhood. I think it's a staple & hope it sticks around some more.
