Unfortunately, they were out of cactus but our server made a great alternative suggestion that hit the spot. If you're hungry, 4 tacos will hit the spot! Great service, tasty food & the patio was great this evening.
Amazing margaritas & standout Mexican tacos - bold, flavourful, & unforgettable. Attentive & friendly service.
Best real birria tacos & atún tostadas!! The drinks are so well made
Cool taco spot in Vieux-Montreal. Great taco options with an amazing quesadilla. Shame we came after the patio was shut down, would have been a great view of the street,
Great food great ambiance & great (yet $$$) drinks! Tacos are great too.
Walking around old montreal I found this place. I seen the menu & had to try the food. I ordered the New El Paso Tacos with a ginger & pineapple punch drink. Very delicious! I would recommend trying this place out.
Tacos were amazing, drinks were even better. Fast service as well.
Dearest readers, it is with great exuberance & a hint of dramatic flair that I recount my recent sojourn to the marvelously eclectic Escondite Vieux-Port in the heart of Montreal. The establishment, with its warm & inviting ambiance, beckoned me in with the allure of a theatrical set, both inside & out, reminiscent of a bohemian haven. Upon entrance, we were greeted by a chorus of delightful servers, whose friendly demeanor & alacrity set the tone for an evening of gastronomic delight. Their service was as swift as a summer's breeze, ensuring our every whim was attended to with finesse. Our culinary journey commenced with the guacamole. Though it was passable, one couldn't help but feel a certain seasoning was MIA, much like a star actor absent from their premiere. However, this minor hiccup was swiftly forgotten as we moved on to the mango salad. Oh, what a revelation! Fresh, zesty, & as vibrant as a leading lady on opening night. The corn bread followed, & it was nothing short of perfection. A masterful balance of sweet & salty, its moist texture was akin to a well-delivered monologue - satisfying & utterly delightful. The quesadillas, I must say, were simply fantastic, deserving of a standing ovation. Lastly, we savored the fried chicken tacos. Spicy, yes, but oh so perfect, like the final act in a riveting drama that leaves the audience in awe. In conclusion, Escondite Vieux-Port offers a dining experience that is a veritable feast for the senses. It is a place where eclectic charm meets culinary excellence, & where one can bask in the warm glow of superb service. Do make a reservation & prepare to be dazzled.
We had high hopes for this place based on good reviews & the nice atmosphere when we walked in. Unfortunately the food quality & service was lacking. They were out of multiple items I tried ordering & by the time I finally was able to order my meal, the rest of my group was already finished eating. & then when my tacos finally arrived they were cold & I had to send them back. Almost everyone at our table was disappointed with their meal, would not recommend.
Don't mind my username, don't know how to change it. Tacos were flavourless, dry, & cold. Guacamole was unseasoned (needed both salt & lime). Paloma just tasted like a margarita. Super sour, no simple syrup, no idea if they put grapefruit in it. Food came before the drinks too, & in piecemeal over the course of the night after we sent the cold tacos back. Not sure how this place has a 4.3 rating.
The food here is mediocre. One of the tacos we ordered, the New El Pastor was unpalatable. Despite telling our server we didn't like it, & eating maybe half of one taco, it was left on our bill. The cabbage slaw on the fish taco was dry as a bone. There was not enough lime or salt in the guac. & when I asked for hot sauce, they offered me Tabasco... Tabasco at a Mexican restaurant? That must be a crime... I think it's possible this restaurant was good before it expanded to several locations. My partner had it 3 years prior & remembers it being good. Honestly I'm shocked they can support rent in downtown Montreal with that food quality.
Tacos were tasty but a bit overpriced. I was quite disappointed at the beer options as its a Mexican restaurant with no mexican beers. I would suggest to hold at least one mexican beer on the menu.
I attended a private party here with about 60 people. The food was good! I really loved their tacos & ceviche. The decor was incredible. Every time I looked up I saw something else I wanted to photograph. The only constructive feedback I'd give is that I wish their guac was seasoned (herbs & salt) a bit more. Their fish tacos & medianoche margaritas are beautiful.
This is a fun restaurant to go to with friends or as a family. We have tried both & enjoyers ourselves very much. The drink menu is excellent & there is a good variety of food. We tried the chefs choice for $45 per person. We got an excellent selection of tacos, & appetizers as well as some fantastic ribs. They were sweet & tender with a little cumin for some Mexican flavour. The service was fast & efficient but we did not feel rushed. I will definitely eat here again.
It was an ok experience, the food has a better presentation than the taste itself. The menu give an idea that you're gonna experience a complexe taste which us not the case. Though we were impressed by the great service! The first picture is the nachos which were the best. The second one is the tuna tostada there was way too much cucumber & barely an overall taste as if it was just a salad that was not eatable. The tacos were not bad , my favourite was the fried chicken one.
