We stumbled upon this spot while wandering the cobblestone streets & were drawn in by the playful vibe, colorful decor, & upbeat music. The interior is eclectic & cozy, with Day of the Dead artwork, quirky details, & a lively but chill ambiance that makes it feel like a hidden gem.
Now to the food - overall, it was very good, with a few standout hits & a couple of misses depending on your palate. The tacos are the star of the show. We tried a variety (the Gobernador, Pollo Frito, & Camaron), & each one had its own distinct flavor & presentation. The shrimp tacos were my personal favorite - crispy, fresh, & packed with flavor.
The guacamole & chips were solid - not mind-blowing, but fresh & satisfying. We also ordered the queso fundido, which was ooey-gooey indulgence, especially when paired with the chips. The Mexican street corn (elotes) was delicious & charred just right.
Drinks-wise, the cocktail menu is creative, & the margaritas are well-balanced with a little flair. Great spot for a round of drinks with friends or a date night.
Service was friendly but could've been a bit more attentive. It got busy during peak hours, so there were some small delays in checking in & getting the bill, but nothing major.
Prices are fair for the area, especially given the quality & portion size. Definitely on the trendier side, but not overly pretentious.
All in all, Escondite Vieux-Port is a fun & flavorful stop in Old Montreal - a cool vibe, bold flavors, & a solid addition to the Montreal taco scene. Would definitely return to try more of the menu!
Stopped by for a cocktail on a Friday. Ended up staying longer & eating wonderful entrees. The young man at the bar was extremely polite & made the best margaritas in Montreal. Will go again for sure.
We just had cocktails after a bike ride through Montreal. The Palomas were excellent, but the Cilantro Smash was like a complete salad in a glass with Jalapenos, Cilantro, & Tajin on the rim. Excellent drinks!

Il ne faut pas s'attendre à un restaurant typiquement mexicain. Des cocktails à la tequila sont disponibles, mais pas de bières typiquement mexicaines. Il y a bien sûr une Lager Mexicaine de Knowlton qui est bonne, mais pas de Pacifico, Modello, Corona, Dos Equis... Le service n'est pas mauvais, mais disons inexpérimenté.

Très très bon !!! Bonne ambiance, service très rapide. Les cocktails sont très bons. Je le recommande a tout ceux qui aiment les tacos & la cuisine mexicaine.
Accueillis en anglais avant qu'on s'adresse à nous en français après 2 réponses de notre part dans la langue de Molière 😌 Délicieux cocktails & plats goûteux ! Belle ambiance mais endroit bruyant
Perfect mexican food spot in old Port of Montreal! Convenient location & great many selection. Cocktails aren't bad either. Ceviche is a must try. A serving of homemade chips along with your meal is a nice touch
Ce restaurant mexicain est très bien. Décors qui sort de l'ordinaire. Choix de cocktails intéressants. La salade de mangue 🥭 est bien savoureuse & croquante. Service rapide.

Escondite Vieux-Port in Montreal is an absolute gem! From the moment I walked in, I was enchanted by the warm & cozy ambiance. The rustic decor & dim lighting create an inviting atmosphere that’s perfect for a night out.
Now, let’s talk about the food. The menu is a delightful fusion of Mexican & Southern cuisine, & every dish I tried was a flavor explosion. The tacos are a must-try; they’re packed with fresh ingredients & bold spices. The cocktails are equally impressive, with a wide variety to choose from.
What sets Escondite apart, though, is the outstanding service. The staff is incredibly friendly, attentive, & knowledgeable about the menu. They made great recommendations & ensured our dining experience was top-notch.
Whether you’re looking for a romantic dinner spot or a fun night out with friends, Escondite Vieux-Port delivers on all fronts. I can’t wait to go back & explore more of their delicious offerings!
Buzzing spot with superb staff, great food & even better cocktails. Our waiter suggested our dishes , all of which were delicious & not too much food. Great experience
