Escondite Cerveceria de Barrio est un restaurant mexicain qui sert des produits mexicains et des cocktails de tequila faits maison. Escondite Cerveceria de Barrio is a Mexican restaurant that serves Mexican goodies and house crafted tequila cocktails.
Sat at the bar with Nick the bar tender... He worked constantly whilst keeping us entertained. Great atmosphere on a Friday night & good value for drinks.
Went here tonight alone, because I was very sad. Both bartenders Mathis & Nick, especially Mathis, were both very nice & helpful. Great service & drinks.
Definitely the best place I've been to in Montreal.

If you're in the Old Port of Montreal & craving some fun, vibrant Mexican food with a creative twist, Escondite Vieux-Port is definitely worth checking out.
We stumbled upon this spot while wandering the cobblestone streets & were drawn in by the playful vibe, colorful decor, & upbeat music. The interior is eclectic & cozy, with Day of the Dead artwork, quirky details, & a lively but chill ambiance that makes it feel like a hidden gem.
Now to the food - overall, it was very good, with a few standout hits & a couple of misses depending on your palate. The tacos are the star of the show. We tried a variety (the Gobernador, Pollo Frito, & Camaron), & each one had its own distinct flavor & presentation. The shrimp tacos were my personal favorite - crispy, fresh, & packed with flavor.
The guacamole & chips were solid - not mind-blowing, but fresh & satisfying. We also ordered the queso fundido, which was ooey-gooey indulgence, especially when paired with the chips. The Mexican street corn (elotes) was delicious & charred just right.
Drinks-wise, the cocktail menu is creative, & the margaritas are well-balanced with a little flair. Great spot for a round of drinks with friends or a date night.
Service was friendly but could've been a bit more attentive. It got busy during peak hours, so there were some small delays in checking in & getting the bill, but nothing major.
Prices are fair for the area, especially given the quality & portion size. Definitely on the trendier side, but not overly pretentious.
All in all, Escondite Vieux-Port is a fun & flavorful stop in Old Montreal - a cool vibe, bold flavors, & a solid addition to the Montreal taco scene. Would definitely return to try more of the menu!
Food is excellent, BUT you only get a little food for a very expensive price. We also felt extremely rushed, as they gave us all our food (appetizer & entrees) at once, & gave us our drinks (which we ordered at the same time) after our food arrived. Waiter also began taking our plates away before we were finished, & rushed to give us our bill once we finished our food (we still had most of our drinks to finish). It's a nice atmosphere for the Old Port, but you have the trade off of an expensive meal for little food, & being rushed out of there.
Excellent spot for Mexican food & drink, menu has an Asian fusion to it as well. Diego our host was knowledgeable, friendly & provided excellent service!

Came in tonight for some drinks & had a great experience. Atmosphere was welcoming, bartender service was fast & kind, my only concern was two people sitting at the bar heckling the poor bartender! They spent the night hollering names such as Mr. Cucumber, Big Daddy, Big Banana Boy, Tony, Toni, Greg Junior & … White power?! Someone help this poor boy☹?
Enjoyed my moment there , the food & drink was all point wow & the waitress was very professional explained every dish we had a good supper should definitely comeback here
Pleasant servers. Atmosphere nice. Water on the table was too warm to drink. I had coke, excellent, my dinner companions had mojitos & a margarita . The margarita got sent back it was so bad. Mojitos were drinkable but not enjoyable . No one liked the food. It lacked flavour & eye appeal. Sadly will not return to this location.

My boyfriend & I went here to try the tequila tasting. It was superb. The manager (forgot his name) was so well educated & passionate with his tequila knowledge. He explain the proper way to drink tequila, the different types & shared stories of how he was introduced to tequila by his father & grandfather. It was by far the best experience we had in Montreal & would highly recommend it. Unfortunately we stumbled across the restaurant after dinner so we didn't eat anything but we couldn't resist the churros which were amazing. Would definitely come back & would highly recommend this place!!
We just had cocktails after a bike ride through Montreal. The Palomas were excellent, but the Cilantro Smash was like a complete salad in a glass with Jalapenos, Cilantro, & Tajin on the rim. Excellent drinks!
Still the best! We normally go on the one in Drummond but decided to try another one. The drinks are really good & the food is extraordinary! It's smaller but we like smaller place ambiance! The service was great as usual, totally worth the drive from Ottawa!
Walking around old montreal I found this place. I seen the menu & had to try the food. I ordered the New El Paso Tacos with a ginger & pineapple punch drink. Very delicious! I would recommend trying this place out.
Don't mind my username, don't know how to change it. Tacos were flavourless, dry, & cold. Guacamole was unseasoned (needed both salt & lime). Paloma just tasted like a margarita. Super sour, no simple syrup, no idea if they put grapefruit in it. Food came before the drinks too, & in piecemeal over the course of the night after we sent the cold tacos back. Not sure how this place has a 4.3 rating.
