It was nice! They treated us with salsa & chips, the service was friendly.
There was a list of vegetarian options on the menu.
It's a restaurant + a small store with Mexican snacks, baked goods & in store made options (like guacamole).View more
Honestly some of the best Mexican food I've had outside of Mexico. Definitely some of the best chilaquiles I've ever had. Great little spot next to Jean talon market.View more
Great place to eat Mexican food with a true Mexican flavor. Excellent place, always attentive to what is needed at the table, their food is as similar as possible to a Mexican dish.View more
I've been coming here for a very long time, & it never disappoints. Hands down, the best Mexican restaurant in Montreal! The flavors are authentic, the food is always fresh, & the atmosphere is vibrant. A must-visit for anyone who loves great Mexican cuisine.View more
Not real mexican flavors, the rice taste like masala. It is not hard using tomatoes, onion, garlic, salt & water. Why masala?
I am not asking for 100% mexican flavors, i am just asking not to taste indian food.View more
Just cant go wrong with this place, my favorite mexican restaurant in montreal !View more
Ordered on UberEats from El Ray Del Taco on May 5th for Cinco de Mayo. The food was mediocre, nothing spectacular. It is definitely authentic Mexican but wasn't outstanding by any means. One of the complaints is on the Chicken Quesadlilla & the Cheese Quesadilla. We realized that between orders, they aren't cleaning the grill they use to crisp & cook the quesadilla. They were both ordered rather plain, chicken, cheese & corn (missing the corn), on one & just cheese on the second one. Both of them had pieces of fried onion stuck to them from a previous order cooked on the same grill .. the kids don't like onions at all & one has an allergy. That was stated in the allergy section of the order. My fiancee had the Enchiladas, which she enjoyed but said the same thing... it was good. Nothing spectacular or outstanding. We realize it was Cinco de Mayo, & they were highly likely very busy, but taking 10 seconds to scrape the grill between orders ensures issues like this won't happen. We may try them again on another day, which is not a Mexican Celebration Day, & hope for a better result.
Based on this order yesterday, it's not a recommendation from us. If we order a second time & it's better, or worse, we will let you know. ⭐?⭐?⭐?View more
Delicious authentic mexican food! Tacos were very good, the vibe was fun & inviting.View more
Very delicious mexican food. Watch out, some tables are quite small & narrow.View more
This Mexican restaurant is a great spot, especially after spending time at Marché Jean-Talon! I've been here multiple times, & it's always a reliable option for a satisfying meal. I usually order the *Burrito Tradicional* with steak, & it's packed with flavor & generous portions. The steak is well-cooked & tasty, though I do find it a bit too salty for my preference on my each visit. That said, the overall quality & experience keep me coming back.
The location is super convenient, right across from Marché Jean-Talon, making it a perfect place to refuel after exploring the market. The atmosphere is lively, & the service is friendly. If you're in the area & craving Mexican food, this is definitely a solid choice!View more
I was aware of the great reputation this Mexican restaurant had & finally tried it for brunch on a Sunday morning. The vibe was very inviting & the food was just awesome. Everything is home made, right down to the taco chips & tortillas. I tried the veal omelette with refried black beans, rice & guacamole. Everything was so tasty & fresh. The sweet & spiced coffee was also a nice surprise. I will definitely go back to try their tacos.View more
We were really excited to try this Mexican restaurant, but unfortunately, our experience with Uber Eats was disappointing. The food arrived smooshed, & nothing was warm. While we understand delivery isn't always perfect, this was below what we expected. The flavors were decent, but it was hard to fully enjoy when the presentation & temperature weren't right. We hope the restaurant can work on improving packaging to keep everything intact & warm for delivery ordersView more
The most amazing & authentic Mexican food I've ever had outside of Mexico. The service is friendly & professional. The staff is always eager to answer any questions. You never have to feel intimidated about asking any questions. Great casual atmosphere; Great friendly staff; Great food; Great prices; & Great portions. Overall a GREAT Mexican Restaurant for a great Mexican experience. I rate this place six out of five mustaches.View more

If you're in Jean Talon Market & are looking for some delicious authentic Mexican food , I would highly recommend you try the Enchiladas Mole & the Platos Del dia.View more
Fantastic place for authentic Mexican food, located in the center of Jean Talon Market. We've been regulars for many years, & they don't disappoint. It has a great shop inside with a huge variety of Mexican ingredients. Great stop for a meal while doing some food shoppingView more
Best nachos I've ever had are from here. Mains were decent but not bad. Very authentic Mexican style food.View more
Went here for lunch & found it to be a solid Mexican spot. We got the 1/4 kg chicken tacos & the sopes with chorizo. The tacos were solid, chicken was juicy & tasty & the tortillas were soft (in a good way). The sopes were good but I found the chorizo to be a bit salty but my partner enjoyed them. I wouldn't necessarily come back here but I would recommend to someone who has never tried real Mexican food.View more
I've been a big fan of El Rey Del Taco for a while. After all they have some of the best tacos & taco meat selections in town. The competition is town is fierce, but they are still in the mix. However, I'm here to talk about breakfast. Jean-Talon market early in the morning when the stands are prepping is always a pleasurable walk & stopping to have breakfast at Rey is a big part of it for me. Talking with Don Javier who welcomes you with a freshly brood pot of coffee & a selection of authentic Mexican recipes is a heartwarming sensation. Whether it be gorditas, chilaquiles or any other option on the menu; everything is freshly made.View more

Amazing & authentic Mexican restaurant! Staff was friendly if a bit slow, but the place was nicely decorated with some of the brst Mexican food I've had outside of Mexico! Amazing horchata & quac, I would recommend both, & the choriqueso for sure. If you like it or want to try something new, the beef tongue tacos are great as well.View more
El Rey del taco is my favourite Mexican restaurant in Montreal!! It's everything you want- authentic, delicious, affordable, & has a great ambiance. I believe there's even a terrace at the back in the summer. The food we had (fish tacos & meat nachos) was amazingly fresh & served quickly. Yummy drinks as well. Will be back asap!!View more
The food was amazing, Great portion sizes with the option of a smaller portion of 4 or 6 tacos. The horchata was amazing. The space was cozy. Great service. Sold Mexican goods at the back of the restaurant.View more
