El Gordo is a friendly and welcoming neighbourhood taqueria where simplicity rhymes with savoury. Come try one of our delicious tacos, offered at a very affordable price. While taking my dog for a walk, we felt a little "snacky"
We ordered a guacamole & salsa nachos, $12 (cheapest thing that caught my eye)
Well, was I disappointed!
The prompt & polite service brought me a "meal"
It hit the spot, more than I intended.

We came here a couple of times before & liked the place. However, we came here on a Tuesday to have a quick bite & a drink on the terrace to enjoy the beautiful weather. The waitress today gave us a horrible service. She forgot to bring us the wine menu & it took 45 minutes to get the bottle we ordered.
She gave us 2 dirty glass & a warm bottle. When we mention the glasses were dirty, she didn't even change them. We were disapointed that we decided to grab a bite elsewhere.
Both waitresses were young & lack experience, they didn't even let us taste the $80 bottle wine we ordered before pouring into our dirty glasses.

Beaucoup trop cher pour ce que nous avons eu. Nous étions 2.
On nous a dit que le fajitas à partager allaient être assez. Nous avons décidé de prendre deux type de tacos en plus de l'assiette fajitas au boeuf à partager. Les accompagnement pour fajitas sont arrivé dans de minuscules pots. Les tacos était délicieux mais ils était si petit que je me demandais pourquoi ils coutaient si cher. Lorsqu'on a demandé à la serveuse si c'était possible d'avoir d'autres pots d'accompagnement, on nous a dit que c'était 2 dollars du pot (gros environ comme la moitié d'un petit V8 pour les lunchs, c'était des petits pots bruns comme pour mettre du beurre). La serveuse nous a dit qu'ils s'étaient trompé de pot d'accompagnement mais de toutes évidences, les autres tables avaient la même chose. L'assiette fajitas est composée 65% de riz, 25% de legumes grillés & un maigre 10% de viande. Nous avons eu l'impression de payer pour du riz.
Nous avons pris des churros en dessert & il n'y avait rien de fantastique. Pour 4 tacos (pensez à une petite feuille d'érable pour la grandeur), une assiette de fajitas (qui réellement comble une personne) & 6 churros à 92$ : nous aurions mieux fait de manger ailleurs.View more

Came here with my girl & we got cocktails, an appetizer & two types of tacos.
Our appetizer was good we had the fried calamari nothing special but good.
Atmosphere was nice music was good, you can see the inside of the kitchen sitting down which is not smth I personally liked, a curtain or smth would be nice.
My girls cocktail was nice & strong mine too but my margarita came in a small mug that was weird didnt think margarita glasses were hard to get for a restaurant?
Ok so the food, my tacos were sadly cold. Not sure if they’re supposed to be but don’t think so, tasty, but cold. My girl got the birria tacos & they were amazing, hence the 3 stars, hot, had cheese & tasted great.View more

via LibroWe really enjoyed our evening at El Gordo! The food was wonderful (we all ordered & shared different tacos!) & the pitcher of Margaritas was delicious - but a little light on tequila! Still, we would recommend El Gordo.

Ce restaurant détient maintenant la triste distinction de m’avoir servi les pires Tacos que j’ai mangé de ma vie. Super super super sec. Même mon ami, qui a commandé un autre type de tacos, c’était super sec & pas goûteux. En aucun cas, ces plats auraient du sortir de la cuisine.

The food, as always, rocked, the service was outstanding - Eleanor served us in English, French & Spanish - & the house bought us all shots of tequila - I've always loved the food & vibe of this place, & it hasn't changed at all in the four years since I've been gone!

I first tried these at Osheaga & really liked them so I decided to have them again at the restaurant itself. I couldn’t order the taco I had at the festival unfortunately(only available on a certain day) but the shrimp tacos I got were very tasty!
