Quite a decent mix of beers. Obviously a mix of personal hits & misses. Mon Ami stood as our popular choice. Food options were surprisingly quite good, going beyond typical bar food.
Warm & rustic raft beer bar that's popular with both locals & tourists. Servers are knowledgeable & friendly, food is good, & the beers are great! The new menu is also excellent; their kitchen is really going to put DDC on the map as a dining option, as well as Canada's best craft beer pub!
This is, in my opinion, the best brewpub in Montreal. The quality & diversity of the beers is excellent. The staff are friendly, the atmosphere is inviting, & I've never had a hard time getting a bar seat or a table here. Sometimes I've ordered food too (the house frites are delicious) but usually, I post up here for an hour or two with a few beers & a friend or a good book. Either way, Brasserie Dieu du Ciel! is a crucial stop for me whenever I'm visiting Montreal.
Nice terrace seating with some afternoon sun. Tasty cheese plate. Wide variety of well done house beers across the spectrum. Spacious indoor seating areas of long high tables & small top dark wood circular tables. 9-place L-shaped copper-topped bar with padded stools & a foot rail. 20 taps, one cask (very nice). A bit loud for conversation (80dBa) but lively crowd.
Really excellent service & the advice on beer was excellent. Thoroughly recommend the bar.
The beer is always great here. Great atmosphere as well. But the service was definitely lacking on this most recent visit. I came in for a beer by myself, there was nobody seating guests at the door despite this being a full table service establishment. I went to the bar & asked the bartender if I should seat myself & he said "sure". I asked him if I should grab a menu & he said "yea, you can do that". He seemed like he had no idea. So I sat at a table waiting for someone to take my order for about 10 minutes. All while servers were walking by my table the entire time. I was about to leave when one of the bartenders finally came & took my order. I drank my beer & then I sat with an empty glass for about 5 minutes until I flagged somebody down to pay. I will come back on my next trip to Montreal because I've had good service here in the past. This must've been a busy night for them or something.
Très belle surprise, j'ai beaucoup aimé la bière & le rapport qualité prix pour la nourriture qui devrait inspirer grand nombre de bar dans cette ville ...
Some very good beer. The NEIPA was particularly good. The setting reminds me more of a crowded wine bar than a brewery & it was particularly busy & noisy when we went which took away from the atmosphere. Good selection of unique beers will ensure we will return
Good beer but the young barman (dark hair, glasses) working the bar on the pub side of the place had no clue how to pour a stout, which was surprising for a brewpub. After pouring me this monstrosity / joke (see photo!), I said nothing at the time not wanting to be annoying, but for the second one I asked him nicely if he could pour it so the head was around finger width, explaining that this was standard where I was from (Dublin - & this was listed as a "stout Irlandaise" so I figured I was not taking nonsense here). He did so & he said I should have told him the last one was badly poured. I said no problem not a big deal. (There were 8 people he was serving sat at the bar so I did wonder why he couldn't maybe look at the pint before he gave it to someone!) After 4 pints I had to leave & got the check. I tipped $4 thinking that was standard (as it is in NYC - a dollar a pint) & he told me passive-aggressively that "15% is normal, but ok". I would have preferred he just said thank you or nothing. Left a bad impression. I won't rush back. I do think the tipping culture is getting crazy. Getting a hard time for tipping $1 a pint across 4 pints sat at a bar, when the barman doesn't even know how to pour them!
Try the barrel aged péché mortel if you're into craft beer!
