Dic Ann's Hamburgers Laval Restaurant: Menu, Reviews & Reserve (2026)
BurgersPoutineComfort Food
Dominic “Dick” Potenza was born in West Virginia and grew up in Utica, New York. He became well known in the Rochester - Buffalo area during the 40’s as a head-waiter in the supper-club type restaurants of the era. It was at one of these supper-clubs that he met his future wife, jazz accordionist Ann Collecchia, who performed using the stage name of Ann Russell. Together, they envisioned a fast food restaurant that would serve an original style hamburger with their own special sauce. After much thought, this original style hamburger took the form of a toasted bun containing a thin patty that would cook quickly. After they modified and combined two recipes that they brought with them from Rochester, Dick and Ann developed their famous hot sauce.

Review Summary

Dic Ann's Hamburgers is described as a nostalgic fast food haven with classic burgers and a distinctive sauce that many reviews say is worth craving, and the overall vibe is a retro dine experience that fans return to for reliable flavor and memories. Praise often centers on the burgers and the sauce, with several noting clean, friendly service and a warm atmosphere, while others point to long waits or uneven service and some locations feeling less clean or a bit worn. A few critiques mention fries tasting like old oil, inconsistent portions, or soggy sides, and one review calls a location the dirtiest seen, yet even then the core burger experience is described as delicious and memorable. The burger itself is frequently highlighted as the main draw and many customers say they would return and recommend the spot, keeping a loyal following despite occasional inconsistency across visits and locations.

Saw many good reviews for this Montreal experience. Tried the Quattro burger with their signature spicy sauce. Knew what I was about to experience based on other reviews. Buns remind you of pancakes. Burger itself was typical fast food thin burgers. Sauce was a nice unique flavor. It was served with two popsicle like wooden sticks to presumably eat with. No way you are picking this sandwich up so used the sticks like knives & chopsticks. Definitely something different & not bad, just a little strange for utensils choice. I would classify this as a unique experience but a tough repeat customer spot with so many emerging choices in the greater Montreal area. I'm sure they have a loyal customer base as their flavors & presentation are very unique & things you can't find elsewhere.
