Review Summary

Dera Restaurant is widely recognized as a go-to destination in Montreal for authentic Pakistani cuisine, with many patrons praising dishes like nihari, paye, and fresh naan. While frequent visitors often highlight the friendly service, welcoming atmosphere, and reasonable prices, opinions remain divided regarding consistency. Some diners have reported concerns about food freshness, cleanliness, and occasional lapses in service speed, while others find the menu options diverse and flavorful. Despite varying experiences with the dining environment and quality control, many long-term customers consider it a reliable spot for family gatherings and traditional meals.

Nice airy, clean place.
Service staff is wonderful. We had a lady in a black baseball cap help us (didn’t get her name) but she was lovely.
However food was a let down. Maybe it was the type of things we ordered. We had a long trip back to Ontario right after lunch so we didn’t want to eat anything overly spicy or oily. So we ordered the mixed grill platter, naans, daal makhani, beef biriyani, mango shakes. Everything was very average. Not the big pop of flavours I expected having read reviews.

Prices are fair & there is parking at the back which is a huge plus point in Montreal. There’s parking around the Barclay School as well.

Overall, I’d give it a 2 star but giving an extra star for service & parking.

Delicious food. Good portions & price compared to other simular restaurants. Staff is always friendly. One of the best of its kind in town.

Visited the other location & was blown away by the savoury Thali dish, a platter with a choixe of three cury meat servings. A sure bet for a tight budget, a couple can stuff themselves with two samosas in extra, & still pay under $20 with yaxws & tip.
