Dera Restaurant is widely recognized as a top destination in Montreal for authentic Pakistani cuisine, with many patrons praising the freshness and traditional flavors of dishes like nihari, paya, haleem, and biryani. Guests often highlight the restaurant as a welcoming space for families and groups, frequently noting that the naan is among the best in the city. While experiences vary regarding service speed and consistency, many visitors appreciate the generous hospitality, the reasonable pricing, and the warm, home-cooked quality of the meals that keep them returning. Whether visiting for the popular weekend halwa puri breakfast or a hearty dinner, the restaurant remains a go-to spot for those seeking a genuine taste of Pakistani comfort food in a friendly atmosphere.
Thanks Ali for understanding our situation & providing us the replacement of mutton Biryani wonderful taste great customer service it was tke off I love the taste of mutton Biryani I have recommended Dera for lots of my friends for wonderful service I also love the crispy samosa I would like to order always from Dera 👍🏻
Visited Dera Restaurant in Montreal with my family. Coming from NY, there's a lot of different restaurants to try & I was interested to see how this local Pakistani restaurant would measure up.
We ordered the chicken Reshmi kebab, beef & chicken boti kebabs, beef biryani, shrimp tandoori & fish pakora. The food was seasoned as expected of Pakistani cuisine.
Some downsides- We ordered a shrimp biryani as well, but it came without any shrimp at all, so we had to returned to the kitchen since we were told it was in error. It never came back out to the floor after that.
We also had a negative encounter with the workers, who were not happy with where we wanted to sit with our large group of 13 people. The dining hall was empty, & we wanted to sit somewhere well lit but the workers were resistant, saying that they have to clean wherever we sat, which made no sense of we sat in the well lit area by the mirrors rather than where it was darker since....we were the only ones there? It didn't make much sense & set a sour tone for the evening.
The malai, mango, & pistachio kulfi however sweetened up our spirits! For my last dinner in Montréal, that ended it on a good note.
I rarely write reviews, but Dera Restaurant truly deserves one.
What impresses me the most is not only the amazing food but also their outstanding customer service. Every time I order through Uber Eats, there isn't an option to request their delicious spicy chili dip, which goes perfectly with their biryani. Whenever I call the restaurant to ask for it, they always go out of their way to help me. They never hesitate & always send it with such kindness & generosity. That level of care is becoming rare these days.
The food itself is simply exceptional. Whenever I'm feeling homesick or going through a difficult time, Dera's food has a way of bringing me comfort. It reminds me of the warmth of a meal cooked by my mother. It's not just about satisfying hunger-it's about the memories, love, honesty, & joy that come with every bite.
Many restaurants can fill your stomach, but Dera Restaurant fills your heart as well. Every meal feels like home, & honestly, even my soul feels satisfied after eating their food.
Thank you to the entire team at Dera Restaurant for your incredible food & genuine hospitality. Please continue the amazing work. Highly recommended to anyone looking for authentic food made with care & passion
We had a wonderful experience at Dera Restaurant! The biryani was absolutely delicious-full of authentic flavor & perfectly cooked. A special thank you to the pani puri stall outside the restaurant. The pani puri was fresh, tasty, & a perfect addition to our meal. Friendly service, great atmosphere, & amazing food. Highly recommended, & we'll definitely be back! 😊🍛🥣

Update review 2026
Went there after a long time. The food quality was still not there. We ordered chicken 3 salan they were not really hot & were below par, kebab were good. Charga was good. The Naan were rock hard. We also took their paan. They were the worse
ok so the service can be a total drag.. the biryani & naan are packed with authentic taste, but our food took forever to come out cause the kitchen was completely overwhelmed.. its a decent spot if u have time to kill, but they definitely need to speed things up
Food was stone cold . Biryani was tasteless. Korma was not even korma. I won't be recommending this place to anyone in the near future. This must be the worst Pakistani restaurant ever , what an embarrassment for Pakistani food standards
I ordered four chicken biryanis yesterday. I've always enjoyed your food, which is why this experience was disappointing. This is the first time I've received takeaway biryani that had an unpleasant smell even before opening it, & the rice itself seemed off.
I believe it's important to consistently serve fresh food & maintain the quality your customers expect. I'm not seeking a refund-I'm sharing this feedback because I value your reputation & hope you continue to prioritize freshness & customer satisfaction.
I've already left a message with the receptionist & hope this reaches the owne
