Been eating here all my life, the last at least 4 times the inside of my steamy has been cold & the gravy is so garlicy I had to Google today & the answer was that they changed it 2 years ago. BUT WHY!!!! It was perfect & now just disapointing.
I'll likely not order again. Steamies are supposed be STEAMY, not ice cold in the middle. It's a horrible contrast to the warm soft buns. Sorry not sorry. It needed to be said.
If you can see my notes, also 45 orders! That was my last sadly
20 year & counting eating Poutine here & still taste the same!
Best poutine in MONTREAL hands down.
Staff is very rude & arrogant. You make mediocre hot dogs, please get off your high horse.
Best original poutine in the world. Best gravy, best cheese, best fries. Enough said
A classic stop to be made in St-Laurent.
Unfortunately, not many snack bars left in Montréal !
Not a restaurant but an institution with history. Poutine is delicious with hearty fries, smooth gravy, & chewy cheese curds. Best of all, it's not just a salty sloppy mess like many others.
It's the classic Decarue hot dog that I've loved all the way since I was a kid. Still cash only & the steamés are The classic luster perfection. Get them all dressed as they have to be made, get some fries & you've got nostalgic perfection. Every time I'm in Montreal, I make it a point to stop by there. Even if it's way out of the way & I have to fight through the expressway. Still worth it.
The restaurant owners are very nice, sweet people, the restaurant is very authentic, one of the oldest on the street, everything looks very cool. & yes, it's very tasty!
Hihihi.
Even though I quite enjoyed the flavours of the fries, I feel like it was lacking a bit of crunch to them. The hot dog was a bit disappointing in size for around 2.50$ but it ended up being pretty good. I had it all dressed & I really enjoyed the overall flavour profile of it. The poutine was also quite interesting in flavours, it varied from the usual plain brown sauce which was enjoyable. The portion was pretty hefty for around 10$ they charge for it. The service was pretty unenthusiastic. Everyone seemed to be a bit grumpy & unhappy when I walked into the restaurant. The counter waitress even gave out a sigh before serving me. However, they were working quite efficiently. By the time I had paid for the food, the order was already almost completed. The last thing that bothered me during my visit was that their card machine was down. There were so many more items I wanted to try out but I couldn't because I only had a limited amount of cash on me.
Went in hungry, got out rolling onto sidewalk.
Food service atmosphere, the lady serving us was like my mom
Appreciate the care given to me
Only cash, the poutine tasted like water... absolutely no flavor, it was a pain to finish it.... I went at 11pm so be careful maybe it was only the person working
UPADTE: I bought a frozen poutine for 3.99 at Provigo & it was better
UPDATE 2 YEARS LATER: Poutinr still taste really bad, hotdogs are good tho.
