The best restaurant I've been in Montreal so far! From the service to the food everything has been top notch, their chicken, from chicken only to the meal plans were all satisfying, their fries were crispy & soft inside. The cocktail given to us was sweet to the right point, although it was a bit too light but it was perfect for our night dine-in. An absolute must-try for whoever wants some chicken & not the usual fast food experience!
We celebrated our birthday there, & the waiter even brought us a small cake & cheese fries, which were delicious. Just like the reviews said, the fried chicken was excellent. The only problem was that parking was a bit difficult.

I can't believe it took me that long to find that gem!!
. Portions are incredibly generous, both my friend & I took home a full lunchbox
. The chicken is probably the best I got in a long (looong) time. Tasty, great sauces, & so light. We took the bestie combo 2, & all flavors were to die for.
. We also took one individual plate to share, & honestly, we were really full. & that's considering the fact we entered the restaurant claming to be starving.
. The woman that attended to us was extremely thoughtful, & it made the whole experience all the more enjoyable.
. Sensorial bonus: the lightning, & also the similiar leather covers for the table, it was the best to touch.
A very clean restaurant, nice ambiance. The waitress was really really nice. Speaking both french & english. The fried chicken was AMAZING. Melting in mouth. Affordable & big plates. Very satisfied, a nice discover.

I recently visited DaWa Chicken in Plateau-Mont-Royal. While there were some definite highlights to the meal, the experience was a bit of a mixed bag due to service speed & one specific dish.
The Good
• Fried Chicken Combo: This was the star of the show! The chicken was perfectly crispy & flavorful. We really enjoyed the variety of sauces & the crunch.
• Korean Rice Cakes (Tteokbokki): These came with fish cakes & a generous layer of melted cheese on top. The texture was great & the flavors were spot on. Highly recommend these two!
The Bad
• Seafood Pancake: This was a major disappointment. It felt like it was rushed on high heat-the outside was overcooked/burnt while the inside remained raw & gooey. It wouldn't hold its shape & just fell apart when touched. Definitely wouldn't recommend ordering this.
The Service
• Wait Time: We waited about 40 minutes for our three courses to arrive. For a casual dinner, that felt significantly too slow, especially considering the kitchen timing issues with the pancake.
Final Verdict: Go for the chicken & the rice cakes, but maybe skip the pancakes & be prepared to wait a while for your food.
A wonderful modern-style Korean restaurant, but they have the major traditional dishes as well. I have to highlight the exceptional quality of the food here, & the consistency of the experience. I've now ordered from or been to Dawa on Mont Royal over a dozen times in the past couple of years & have always been very impressed with everything.
The recipes seem authentic to me, especially the spiciness level of the tteokbokki (if you ask for spicy, they have milder options). It does remind me of the food I had in Korea.
The fried chicken, their signature offering, is really nice & is very different to what you may consider as Western/fast food style fried chicken.
One of the best fried chicken I ever had! It's freshly made with really tasty sauce/marinade. The employees are attentive & professional, the place is very well maintained with exemplary cleanliness. I would come back with great pleasure!
