It tasted like boxed pasta & canned sauce with ground beef added. Very bland, not worth the $, regretted going there as soon as my entree was put in front of me.
Fast & friendly service, had spaghetti bolognese & cheesecake which was great. We had it pre-booked so unsure whether it would be as quick if you just turned up & paid for something.
All in all it was a nice restaurant to dine in.
Repas authentique Da Giovani comme dans le temps. Choix à la carte diminués (Trio pâtes, option smoked meat, vin: pas vu, portion correct mais diminué aussi). Ambiance bonne mais plus rapide style fast food, donc nous met moins confortable. Si vous y allez un couple, moins le fun sur demi table. Y veulent trop exploiter le pied carré, ça gâche le plaisir. Je ne le recommande pas pour soirée relax au resto. Plus pour repas à cadence rapide-moyen.

The food was really tasty with great portion sizes. Both meals & sides were what we needed. Only downside was they opened the front window (where we were seated) & yellow jackets started flying around us ... plus lots of people walking by with no buffer. I would have chosen a different table if I knew they were opening the window. Otherwise highly recommended.
Da Giovanni is one of the oldest restaurants in Montreal. People used to line up outside to get in. What made them special was their special marinara sauce & their very generous servings. The sauce is still the same, but the portion I got last time I was there was really small. I was disappointed.
Je ne sais pas si ce restaurant a été vendu à un nouveau propriétaire, mais la traditionnelle sauce tomate qui était si excellente est disparue. Mon spaghetti a pris le bord des poubelles.
Vous avez raison à 100%! Je suis âgé de 69 ans, et j'ai commencé à manger chez Da Giovanni dans la vingtaine, et la sauce avait un goût exceptionnel! Depuis qu'ils ont vendu, le nouveau propriétaire n'a pas voulu acheter la recette secrète originale, celle qui faisait attendre les clients dehors en ligne meme par temps froid d'hiver tous les jours de la semaine des 16h! Vous ne voyez plus de line-up dehors! Dagiovanni doit surement avoir perdu des miliers de clients fidèles, comme je l'etais moi meme! La nouvelle clientèle est trop jeune pour avoir connue le goût extraordinaire que la sauce à spaghetti Da Giovanni avait! Quel dommage!
Tres tres décue,beaucoup de monde ,manque de personnel,seulementun choix au menu......& attente tres longue surtout avec des enfants.....! Pas fameuxce soir la......!
Très déçu. Dans notre cas, nous recherchions le Dagiovanni des années 60-70-80...Ce gout qu`avait la sauce a Spag & la pizza, qui nous faisait attendre en filée les dimanches soirs d`Hiver très froids. Ça n`a plus rien a voir. Nous ni retournerons pas.
Vous avez tellement raison! Je suis agé de 63 ans, et je me souviens tres bien du gout inimitable de la sauce a spaghetti de ces années la( 70-80 pour moi)! Je me souviens de cette merveilleuse senteur de la sauce quand nous entrions dans le restaurant! Il y avait effectivement des filées d'attente a partir de 16h!!! Plus le meme gout du tout, pas mauvais, mais je n'y retourne plus moi non plus, et le nouveau proprio devrait s'approprier de l'ancienne recette pour le gout véritable de da giovanni!!
Vous avez 100% raison! J'etais moi aussi un client fidèle dans les années 70-80! Ça n'a vraiment plus du tout le même goût! L'ancienne sauce etait magique! Dommage!
J'y suis allée avec ma maman!! Nous avons commandé le pizza-ghetti. J'ai trouvé ça bon & au diner c'est moins cher! Le service assé rapide. Parfait pour un diner sur le pouce!
