We stopped in for an early breakfast. The Benedicts were pretty good-though I wasn't sure if the cheese used was Kraft singles. Service during the meal was honestly great. Our server was kind, attentive, & overall really lovely.

The issue came at the very end. Their payment machine didn't show tip percentages, so I just entered an amount manually. I didn't see the full bill at the time, but later realized it was around $40. I always tip 15-18%, & after getting to the car & doing the math (including both taxes), I saw that what I left was actually a fair tip.

But as we were leaving, I was chased down & asked why I'tipped so low' & if the service was bad. I was caught off guard, especially because I genuinely thought she did a great job. If I'd had cash on me, I probably would've even added another $5. It wasn't about the tip-it was the way she handled it that felt totally unprofessional & has never happened to me in my life.

There was a whole discussion recently in the Spotted LaSalle Facebook group, where a lot of seniors were openly saying they don't tip at all. I can only imagine how this would've gone if someone like that had come in. Would she have chased them out too, asking what she did wrong? ( I think tipping is super important)

It's a shame, because I would've gladly returned. But after being made to feel guilty over something that didn't even warrant it, I don't think I will.View more
