Good food & friendly service.
We tried the server's recommendations; crispy duck & dumplings with peanut sauce. While they were not exceptional, we enjoyed them.View more

Very lively restaurant (not very quiet or private) , service was top notch & friendly. I had the peanut butter dumplings & the fried spring rolls - both were delicious & hot, but I had the tofu with peanut sauce, crispy spinach & sticky rice was sub par. The tofu was soggy & flimsy, not enough peanut sauce & crispy spinach was tasteless. For the price per meal, I was definitely not impressed.View more

My favourite vegan restaurant in montreal. By far the best vegan Thai food you will ever have! Delicious peanut butter dumplings & 3 flavours (imitation) beef. Soy (Imitation) duck with spinach is also delicious! An absolute must try if you haven't been yet!View more

We got the Thai Princess drink, dumplings in peanut sauce (Kiao satay), the vegan chicken skewers (Gai Satay), the vegan beef in 3 flavor sauce (Neua Sam Rod), the eggplant & vegan shrimp (koung pad makere). I would recommend the Gai Satay & the Neua Sam Rod, it was really flavorful & the vegan beef had a nice crispy texture. I'm personally not a fan of the shrimp texture, which was probably made with konjac jelly. I've been here before & tried the crispy vegan duck & would highly recommend it as well. The ambience is really cozy & chic. The staff is really friendly & explained all the dishes we were curious about. I would visit again!View more

As a lacto ovo vegetarian, vegan restaurants are a special haven for me, given that I can order anything & everything, no holds barred. I had the spring rolls & pad Thai & I have to say this was just some of the best Thai food & vegan food that I've had. It was a good omen from the get-go. My mom & I didn't have reservations (albeit we did walk in after 8pm on Saturday eve) & we were seated right away. Staff were extremely friendly & attentive without being over-bearing. The spring rolls weren't fried & were wrapped in rice paper (this was a plus for me as I'm always trying for healthier options). Although the rolls were cold, they came with a warm peanut sauce. We ended the night with the vegan cheesecake & I can honestly say we were left feeling light, well-fed, & full of endorphins! Highly recommend!View more

Food was amazing! Our fav was the peanut chickn skewers. However, some of the dishes were on the greaser side & service was spotty. Atmosphere was very chic, modern, & clean. They have outdoor seating which was lovely. We will definitely go back again!View more

10/10 across the board! We got the Kiao Satay (dumplings in peanut sauce), Waan Krob (crispy seaweed), Poe Pia Tod (Fried Imperial Rolls), Ped Palo (Crispy duck), & Neua Sam Rod (crispy beef). The peanut sauce was so delicious we could've drank it. The crispy seaweed was perfection. The crispy duck is something I thought I would never find but they have absolutely gotten it right, I'd say better than the real thing. & the beef was the favorite of the table, even better as leftovers the next day. The service was wonderful, & bonus points for mocktail options on their drinks. We're only visiting for a week but will surely be back at ChuChai!View more

we tried several items (tom yum, tom kha, papaya salad, peanut butter dumplings, pad kee mao, ped palo & red curry). the majority of the dishes were ok but our favourite was the pad palo (vegan duck). i've never had a dish like it before but it was amazing!! the pad kee mao was very good too. the service was extremely slow despite the table being reserved only for 2 hours. there were only 2 or 3 waiters & the restaurant was fully packed so it's understandable. our waitress was very patient & kind. 4.5/5 would definitely come back!View more

The tofu dish with crisp spinach was too sweet. No need for sugar on the spinach. . While the peanut sauce was delicious it too would be improved with less sugar.

This restaurant was the saving grace of our Montreal trip. We had been having a hard time finding good Vegetarian food until here. Service was an amazing, cozy atmosphere, packed restaurant. Food was very tasty, however portions of entrees were on the smaller side for price as well tofu & eggplant dish was simple in taste & technique compared to other places I've gotten it from. We got the dumpling in peanut sauce, le tiger cocktail, pad Thai & tofu & eggplant. I wanted to get the fried banana dessert but when asked the dessert selection it wasn't offered.View more

The character of this place is minimal yet pretty with a cozy atmosphere & amazing food! We tried Pad thai, Veg Fried Rice, Dumplings with Peanut sauce & Chicken Skewer & all four dishes were scrumptious. Can't recommend enough if you are into vegan & thai.
PS: The bar seats were not very comfortable to sit but the food made up for it!View more

As a vegan who adores Thai food, I have always been fond of ChuChai. I have come by here a number of times over the years. There is a wonderful selection of mock meats & there are menu dishes that involve their wonderful peanut sauce. The food is tasty while not always consistent it is still a refreshing spot in a wonderful location (right on saint denis) for a meal.View more

Warning: This review comes from a non-vegan so I'm not sure how to review it.

We took the table d'hôte & it came in an abundance of food! I was quite happy to not feel disgusting even with dessert in the end. I was a huge fan of the papaya salad, the fresh spring roll, & my fried spinach peanut butter tofu ricr bowl! The fried banana dessert was the cherry on top.

Oh, don't forget to order their drinks, it's good!View more

ChuChai is by far my favourite restaurant. Even if you are not vegan, don't miss out on this place! Every dish is so well done & so delicious. I highly recommend the breaded mushrooms (taste a little like chicken wings), the peanut sauce chicken skewers & the duck (hard to believe it's not real duck). Thanks for all the delicious food!

Since becoming vegetarian, one of the foods I've missed the most is THAI -- There is fish sauce in everything. ChuChai has been the perfect solution to this problem. I (& my omnivore friends) don't even notice the difference. I've been back 3 times in the last month & can see myself going there regularly for my fix of peanut sauce!

Staff is very friendly & service is quick. My only complaint is that the drink list didn't have ingredients listed, but if you ask the wait-staff they will happily recite what every drink on the menu contains.

Definitely recommend!
