Review Summary

Overall, CHIYOKO Sushi Bar & Steakhouse receives praise for fresh sushi, strong kosher options, vegan take out choices, and thoughtful presentation, with some visits described as stunning and the fish noted as super fresh; the sushi is frequently highlighted as the standout and highly recommended, but experiences vary with issues such as rude or unaccommodating staff, long wait times, pricing that can feel high for the quality, seating problems, and occasional misrepresentation of offerings, creating mixed impressions on overall value.

Honestly probably the freshest sushi I've ever had. We did in fact come quite late for out reservation, but the owner/manager was our'waiter' & anything he recommended was absolutely phenomenal! Would definitely go again when in Montreal (even tho the streets are horrific). 5 starssssss!

Absolutely delicious fried apple dumpling with ice cream for dessert. & I was told the deep fried ice cream dessert is even better! The sushi tasted very fresh & the Godzilla was particularly enjoyable. This restaurant is a gem & a deliciously hidden secret in Ville Saint Laurent. Sharp decor & the clever placement of curtains offers some privacy in this otherwise small & cozy space. I will have to return to sample the steaks. Great service as well. Excellent dining experience! P.S. the "very tall waiter" mentioned (& pictured) in another review was actually amazing. Great service, very friendly. Despite being incredibly busy, he took the time to answer questions & followed up with our table frequently, even going into detail to explain ingredients & recommendations. He was great, quite the opposite of the other review of him.

We had the absolute pleasure & honor of being hosted at Chiyoko Sushi Bar & Steakhouse in Montreal by my dearest sister in celebration of our mother's birthday. Chiyoko delivers an exceptional dining experience. The Sashimi Rainbow appetizer impresses with its ceviche-like slices of tuna, salmon, & yellowtail, perfectly paired with green apple slices & citrus. The Jalapeno Bluefin steals the spotlight, featuring Grade A+ tuna slices with coriander, caviar, fried green onions, & jalapeno. The Spicy Edamame stands out for its great flavor, enhanced by a teriyaki & spicy seasoned sauce. Both the Fish Tacos & Chicken Tacos, served chilled on a hard shell with avocado & diced tomatoes, offer a refreshing twist but could be even better on a soft shell taco. The Hot & Sour Soup, infused with tropical citrus flavors & garnished with fried green scallions, presents a delightful combination of tofu, chicken, udon noodles, & enoki mushrooms cooked in coconut milk, daring the most sophisticated palate for heated flavor. Moving to main dishes, the Chicken Burger is a highlight, featuring a plump, finely chopped, & seasoned chicken breast on a homemade bun, drizzled with Chiyoko chicken sauce, & served with premium julienne fries. The Chicken Katsu, while crispy, could use a bit more flavor, especially considering its hefty chicken piece. The Chiyoko Burger, a 1/2 pound minced beef & veal creation, grilled & topped with caramelized onions, mushrooms, & tempura enokitake, is a flavorful delight with Chiyoko's special wasabi sauce. The Beef Teriyaki, with beef fillet & stir-fry vegetables, may be a bit too generously saturated with a teriyaki-style sauce. While the Tuna Tartare features that same amazing grade tuna discussed earlier, the flavor is slightly overpowered by a lot of fresh cilantro. The dessert finale was absolute fireworks! A warm chocolate soufflé paired with dairy-free ice cream crescendos with the devoured fried ice cream ball. An overall culinary delight. My only wishful advice would be to offer some of the bread sandwiches paired with Montreal's famous sourdough bread from breaderie. As someone touring in the city, it would be great to take advantage of both the great meal, & the world famous bread that Montreal is known for at the same time. The ambiance at Chiyoko is extremely pleasant with a mixed sense of sport & class, with well-spaced tables creating an enjoyable dining atmosphere.
