Reviews describe Chez Josie as a lively, welcoming spot in Villeray where the food, ambiance, and service frequently stand out. The menu is varied and flavorful, with popular dishes such as burrata, arancinis, carpaccio, ceviche, pasta and chicken, and the cocktails and DJ create a vibrant vibe that works for both dining and late night dancing. The staff are consistently praised for attentiveness and hospitality, contributing to a warm overall experience. There are caveats, including a few dishes described as overly salty and occasional concerns about value or uneven service on a rare visit. The venue is well suited for groups and celebrations, with a terrace and a strong bar program, making Chez Josie a standout in the area and a place many plan to return to.
Legit a real hidden gem, it's always an incredible time. Also, they have a vegan option that they have clearly put a lot of thought into, which my girlfriend appreciates, as most places will just serve up storebought vegan bacon or something, whereas here the dish is constructed from scratch, it's really a nice touch, & it goes a long way for people looking for that quality.
For the rest of the dishes, it's a small restaurant, but their menu is adventurous.
I have been to both this place, & Knuckles across the street, & honestly Knuckles falls short in comparison. It's a decent restaurant, but Knuckles is like experimental haute cuisine, & it can get a little pretentious (& pricey!) with the concepts, but falling short on the flavours... & it wasn't all that memorable. Whereas I've been to Chez Josie a bunch of times, & even brought my parents who own a restaurant, just because I know I can expect very flavoursome food, reasonable prices, & the atmosphere is really fun.
It's got a winning recipe inside & out.
The only thing I'll say that's a criticism- & it's kind of a small thing- but if it's busy on a weekend, the music from the bar can get really loud, & if you're eating, it can be hard to hear the person across from you!
But honestly, that's it. If you're looking for a really great spot, with food to impress, you really can't go wrong with this place. They clearly care about the food, & the experience, & if you go in summer, their terrace is awesome.

Excellent service, excellente nourriture, prix correct.
Merci!
