Le service est généralement décrit comme attentif, sympathique et accueillant, même si certains trouvent l’endroit un peu petit ou que le service peut être lent lors des périodes d’affluence; l’ambiance, le rapport qualité-prix et l’envie de revenir sont des points forts récurrents, tout comme le charme boheme et l’impression de voyager vers le Portugal ou les Caraïbes.
Really cool vibe & cute decor. Great coffee & food. I ordered the Mexican crepe & flavour wise it was delicious but it was far too salty for me that I struggled to finish it. The Portuguese breakfast that my friend got was also good but nothing spectacular. On the weekend there was a short wait for late morning brunch but that was expected so no complaints. Overall it was quite expensive for a casual brunch. Their pastel de natas are to die for tho!
Went for brunch on a Saturday & had to wait a bit to be seated but it was worth it! The ambiance is very fun with a lot of humorous unserious decorations, the food was delicious & well served. I highly recommend the "Yé ou Burt" omelette, which comes with cheese, chouriço, potatoes & mushrooms. It was divine & the portion was very big.

Ce petit restaurant portugais de brunch, situé sur le Plateau, est une véritable pépite. L'ambiance y est immersive & chaleureuse, la décoration originale, & les plats proposés se démarquent par leur qualité & leur singularité, avec des recettes qu'on ne retrouve pas souvent à Montréal. Les smoothies sont délicieux, les sandwichs également, & l'accueil était tout simplement parfait. Le service, irréprochable, a ajouté à l'expérience. Je mets rarement des notes de 5/5, mais ici, je n'ai rien trouvé à redire. Un endroit charmant où se mêlent bonne nourriture & service attentionné. Que demander de plus ?
I had a wonderful experience at Chez Jose Cafe! The cozy atmosphere, friendly staff, & fresh, delicious food made it a perfect spot to unwind. Their menu offers a great variety of options, including vegetarian & healthy choices, which was exactly what I was looking for. The coffee was also on point, rich & flavorful. Plus, the service was fast despite it being a busy time. Overall, Chez Jose is a gem! Whether you're looking for a quick bite, a relaxed brunch, or just a good cup of coffee, this place won't disappoint.
You must come here! 40-minute wait for a table, at Sat brunch peak hour, was super worthwhile. Friendly service, scrumptious food & fresh, natural fruit&veggie juice. I'll make it a point to come back when next in this belle ville.
Been going here for brunch many years. The staff had always been exceptional & the homemade hot sauce is the best. Honestly the best place in the plateau for brunch. The Portuguese cuisine is amazing.

One of the best breakfast/brunch restaurant in Montreal/Canada. It's a very cute shop with delicious food & excellent service. I will recommend anyone visiting Montreal to try this place.
I went to for brunch for the first time in this café. It was nicely set up & there was even the option to sit outside. I had the Portuguese breakfast plate with salad & Portuguese toast & a hot chocolate. All the food was extremely good, but the only thing I was not satisfied with was that the sliced sausages were too salty for me. Other than that it is a nice cafe where they have a lot of variety in food for a decent price.
My boyfriend & I were visiting the City & we were just searching for places to eat brunch, & Cafe Jose came across. & google reviews didn't disappoint. My boyfriend had the Portuguese Breakfast & I had Mexican Crepe breakfast if I'm not mistaken & it was soooo goood & fulfilling. & we had egg tart for dessert, & I had mokkachino. Def gonna be back soon

This fun eclectic cafe is perfect for brunch & located in a great walkable area! The staff are so polite & the dishes are so good! I had been on the search for pasteis de nata that would taste as good as the ones I had on a trip to Portugal - these are by far some of the BEST! The Portuguese breakfast plate was tasty & the chicken sandwich was so savory!
Amazing food & service - only downside was the wait time but thats not something they can control! It was really busy too so we waited like 45 minutes to get seated in the blistering heat. But again, not their fault they have a line-up! Good for them. Defs recommend this cute brunch spot.
I had been looking for a breakfast/brunch place that servers something different & unique than regular brunch places which all serve mostly variation of the same thing- just eggs, crepes/waffles/or toasts. The portugese breakfast here was delicious. There are plenty of vegan options as well. The vibe was cool, staff were super friendly & the the menu was aptly priced. Will return for sure.
Now with alcohol permit & open at night, Best breakfast & brunch on the plateau. From Portuguese breakfasts with eggs & Chorizo to a wide menu including great vegan & vegetarian options. Mediterranean influence, homemade healthy food, not expensive, generous portions. Funky & eclectic crowd. Friendly staff. Seafood soup every Friday is a must.Terrasse is now open.
