Fantastic food, good prices, friendly staff. I had dumplings with peanut sauce as an entree & for main dish I had the panang curry with crispy seitan & they were both delicious. My only negative comment concerns the pandan cake I had for dessert, which was a bit dry & the pandan taste was very faint.

The reviews did not lie! We were so excited to try Chai Yo, & our expectations were blown out of the water. The peanut sauce on the dumplings was one-of-a-kind & their vegan duck was magical. The place itself was beautiful-one of the walls was covered in childrens' illustrations & it brought out the family feel in a special way. Our server was also very kind & attentive. Looking forward to coming back (& also trying ChuChai)!
INSANEEEE Thai Food. Every dish was packed with flavor & I was blown away by the texture & flavor of the duck. The peanut sauce in the dumplings was so good, we were scraping the sides to finish it. Would HIGHLY recommend. Dare I say, the best Thai Food I've ever had (aside from Thailand).
I was very impressed with the food. Amazing vegan Thai restaurant. Everything was excellent. I really don't like the name'crispy duck' but don't let that animal name turn you off - it's basically crispy vegan seitan & I highly recommend you order anything with it. We had the soup with crispy duck & the red curry with crispy duck & they were amazing! The peanut butter dumplings were another favorite. They have the best vegan Thai iced tea! Most Thai iced teas are cloyingly sweet but this had the perfect level of sweetness- not very sweet & exactly how I like it. Next time we are in Montreal, we will definitely be coming back here. They also own another vegan Thai restaurant called chu chai which I haven't tried yet.
It's nice to see thai restaurants that offer authentic food. We started the meal with fried imperial rolls & peanut butter dumplings which were both so delicious. We shared two mains; Ped yang Panang (vegan duck seitan Curry) & Kao Man Gou (steamed tofu with spicy sauce & ginger rice). Both were good but I love my curries so the sietan curry had me. We also got a Kao man gai soup which was a little bland but other than that great food experience.
The food was amazing! We had a noodle soup with vegan crispy duck, a banh mi & the dumplings with peanut sauce. The soup was huge & so tasty! The sandwich with the vegan pate & ham was also soooo delicious! The staff was so friendly & attentive; very nice place!
What a sweet find! We ate here on Boxing Day for dinner. The atmosphere was cozy & calm. We had Kiao Satay dumplings to start - peanutty & a little kick of spice. Our mains were Green Curry with tofu & eggplant (very fragrant & fresh!) Ped Yang Panang with rice & crispy duck (little spicy with rich flavour). Would eat there everyday if we could while visiting Montreal!
I've been promising to come to this place the next time I got to Montreal, so I decided to go on my first night there! The service was exquisite & knowledgeable & guiding. The atmosphere was so sweet, bright, chill, cozy, & still had a warm, fuzzy energy about it, even though it was early enough that it wasn't very busy yet. I had a delicious tequila cocktail, nice & spicy, brussels sprouts with satay sauce that will blow your mind, & a beautiful fresh green papaya salad. Can't wait to go back to try more things! Popped in for lunch, this weekend. I had the sandwich special, which meant that I force-fed (not at ALL!) some absolutely killer dumplings in a satay sauce I'd like to marry, a yummy & refreshing Thai Iced Tea & a ridiculously happy-fying vegan ham banh mi! I haven't had a banh mi in years, & this one was flawless! Bright, balanced, sweet, fresh... I ate it way too fast. I think I was afraid to put it down! Next visit: duck sandwich, & next, soup!

We had the lunch special which was noodles & starters & a seltzer drink. The rice dumplings had a standout peanut sauce & great sesame flavour. The noodles were great. My friend had their'duck' soup which he couldn't stop raving about. You couldn't tell it was vegetarian, the dishes are all so well flavoured. The owners are really nice & it's a happy place to hang out at. Will have to try their desserts next time.
Excellent vegan Thai food, the dumplings (Kiao Satay) are amazing, also tried Pad Thai Tao-Hu, Kao Man Gai, both delicious. The owner is the daughter of the original ChuChai restaurant owners & she has her mom's talents & cooking skills. Highly recommended.
Came here to try one the lunch specials! The portion of dumplings was small but delicious, & the hibiscus water was too sweet for my liking, but the banh mi 93 was the star of the show! They use a delicious seitan "duck" meat & a nice fresh baguette. I left feeling very full! Next time I'd come back for just the banh mi & to try some of the other menu items, all of which are vegan. The restaurant itself was so cute & well located. Very friendly & quick service.
What a lovely, family run restaurant! I'm a BIG Chuchai fan so I was happy to try Chai-yo. The food was great - spicier than ChuChai for adventurous palates. We went for a quick dinner & had the Ped Yang Panang (vegan duck) which was sooo good! Also had the green papaya salad & it was spicy & flavorful! The dumplings with peanut sauce are similar to Chuchai's but have their own spin with a chili oil drizzle. Couldn't get enough of the Thai iced coffee!

Being a fan of Chuchai, I was excited to try their new restaurant but I was a bit disappointed... I mean, food was excellent, service was on point, drinks were good too, but the menu isn't that different from their first restaurant, so I unfortunately didn't find it special enough. But don't take me wrong, food was good !!! Especially the dumplings omg miam ! They are to die for 😍
