I had an incredible dining experience ! From the moment I walked in, the ambiance was warm & inviting, with a perfect blend of cozy & chic. The staff were attentive & friendly, providing top-notch service throughout the meal. A special shout-out to our server, Jeremy, who did an amazing job even though it was his first day! He was professional, personable, & made sure our dining experience was flawless. The menu was diverse, offering a great selection of dishes, each one beautifully presented. I tried the Lamb Rack, & it was absolutely delicious-bursting with fresh flavours & cooked to perfection. The grilled octopus also stood out as a unique & flavourful option. Highly recommend for anyone looking for great food, ambiance, & exceptional service!"

We found our waiter very grumpy. The tapas, were delicious, but too small of a portion. The prices were very high for dinner. I would hesitate to recommend this restaurant for dinner.
Really nice place. I had the option that includes shrimp, octopus & squid, it was great. But my husband had the fish of the day & a soup & told me they werent very flavorful.
An old school fine dining Portuguese restaurant. The attention to detail & service throughout the dining experience are hard to find now. This has been one of my regular stops when visiting Montreal for a long time.

This was our first trip to Montreal. My wife & I are both foodies, always ready to try something new. We decided to walk, the streets were busy & there was little parking. We hoped to find something interesting & see if we could be successful as walk ins. & at that moment, in the historic Vieux Montreal, we came to Restaurant Solmar, specializing in Portuguese dining. The restaurant is not on street level & required climbing several steps to the second floor. I can't comment on whether there was an elevator or not. We had the place to ourselves! Our waiter, a well groomedprofessional was as polished as the wine glasses he was wiping down. The ambiance was intimate. A restaurant like this is meant for you to sit back, listen to the menu selections & the wine pairing. "Our chef is from Portugal," our waiter said, "& he prepares your dinner like he is still in Portugal." Now, that's what I'm talking about.I wanted the grilled octopus & my wife had the seafood paella. We went with a rioja gran reserva as recommended. Our dinner arrived beyond expectations. The wine worked wonderfully. Our lavish ncomments to the waiter prompted the chef to visit our table where he parted his only cooking secret ... "grilling octopus has to be low & slow, or it is too tough." He got that right.
What a wonderful place! Pure contentment on our part. Ask David about his Portuguese cognacs. They are superb. Would come back again if we lived anywhere near Montreal. Highly recommended.
What a find! The seafood tapas was excellent, the service was warm, friendly & very professional. The decor & music made for a wonderful atmosphere. It's a gem!
A superb continental Portuguese restaurant in the heart of Old Montreal, great Portuguese seafood selections with a distinctive European taste, also with nice regional Portuguese dishes, great attentive service with knowledgeable staff.
