Horrible experience.
I went back & forth with this restaurant for almost a month trying to plan a lunch for 40 people for a baptism, they were horrible with communication, they dodged calls for weeks, they said they'd call us back & it took days for them to call back.
They finally confirmed the reservation 5 days before the event & the day we got there to be seated & celebrate they told us they forgot about the reservation so the whole party (40 people) waited outside while they set up seating for us.
By the time they finally took our order for soup or salad it was already a hour after we had been seated & by the time we got our main it was 4 hours after we had been seated.
We were a large party with only 1 waiter who had other tables in the restaurant which I'm aware is not his fault but he did not come to see us during the service once unless it was to drop off a plate of food.
Coffee tasted like dirty water & the cream that went into the coffee must of been expired.
By the time it was time to pay we assumed there was a tip already added to the bill so we did not add any additional tip, the waiter came to see us to let us know there wasn't any tip added so we gave him what we thought was reasonable for the service we received & he was not very happy & told us that he did not want our money.
We've gone to this restaurant for multiple occasions but this will absolutely be our last time.
Came here for lunch yesterday, the food was phenomenal!!!! Real authentic homemade Portuguese food. Fish was so fresh. Every bite was savory & delicious. Our waiter was very friendly too. Will definitely be coming back here.
Authentic Portuguese meals from the Lisboa region. But they lack refinement & feel more like home made food. Maybe lunchtime menu is not as fancy as the evening offering but I only ate there at lunchtime. Lately, I had the pork stew (with potatoes & carrots); very greasy & ordinary. My friend had the grilled salmon with special chips like fried potatoes; it looked much better than my meal. I had lunch there another 2 times & it was quite ordinary both times. I do not plan retuning for lunch & maybe try the evening offering to make up my mind.
A true gem in the heart of Plateau-Mont-Royal (Portuguese Plateau).
We were 5 people for lunch during a busy weekend, Saint-Laurent Sidewalk Sale. Surprisingly inside, it wasn't. We showed up no reservation & they took us in right away.
The waiter was super friendly & checked up on us regularly. There was a big group in the second section of the restaurant, but they weren't that loud for us to talk. The food was amazing. No issues with the chicken, pork, shrimps & steak. Everything was perfection.
I would suggest anyone on a visit from anywhere, to try out this restaurant if you are in the heart of the Portugese Plateau.
We have visited Montreal for 2 days & we wish we would find this restaurant on the first day, but unfortunately we found it on the second day, but the experience was excellent from the moment we have ebtered. we had seafood for lunch. the service was excellent, the food amazing, I highly recommend this restaurant
Value, quality, & great service. By far best lunch menu I have seen to date simple, clean, short, delicious, & not pricey at all. Casa Minhota has some of the best & cheapest lunch dishes I have ever eaten bar none.
