Casa Galicia has been a staple of Spanish cuisine in Montreal since 1977. Founded by Laurentino Oliveira and still proudly family-run, the tradition continues today with Jorge Oliveira and David Oliveira at the helm.
Recognized as one of the best Spanish restaurants in North America, Casa Galicia specializes in authentic Galician cuisine, offering classic dishes like paella, zarzuela, and a variety of regional specialties. Guests can pair their meals with a refreshing pitcher of sangria considered among the best in Montreal, or explore the restaurant’s unique wine cellar, featuring reserve wines from Spain’s most prestigious winemaking regions.
The warm and welcoming atmosphere, friendly service, and distinctive décor make every visit memorable. On weekends, the experience is elevated with live flamenco performances, including a professional Spanish guitarist, bringing a touch of Spain’s vibrant culture to the heart of the city.
Casa Galicia offers a cozy, authentic Spanish dining experience in Montreal with a warm, inviting ambiance and a memorable flamenco show on weekend evenings. I NEVER write reviews. In fact this is the first one I've ever written. That being said, I couldn't not write about this place. We were in Montreal for 6 days & no experience compared to this one. The hospitality was amazing. David, Ferrario, & George made us feel like they had invited us into their home & as if we were part of the family. When you add that the that the food was absolutely delicious, it is a must when visiting Montreal. We will DEFINITELY be back!
Very pleasant surprise. Service was meticulous & professional. The waiter & staff were very welcoming & kind. The food was amazing. The octopus was excellent along with the cod croquettes. The paella was a generous portion of seafood! It was soooo tasty!!! Well definitely come back! Thank you Firio! Amazing service!
The restaurant's cozy, rustic decor & lively music immediately made us feel like we were in Spain. We started with a selection of delicious tapas, with the grilled octopus being my favorite. For the main course, we had a seafood paella that was incredibly flavorful. The staff were very friendly & welcoming. I highly recommend this place for a lovely evening out in town.
I brought my family here while visiting Montréal. It is the best seafood I have had in YEARS. Our server, Firio guided us through the menu, & allowed us to try some of the finest seafood samplings, including snow crab legs, the largest scallops I have ever had, & the best sangria I have tried TO DATE. My grandma ordered the whole fish entree & she picked it clean. This place was incredible. The service was incredible. The food & wine were incredible. My mom loved it so much, she said it has to be a staple each time we visit Montréal. There is also a vegan menu, & the vegan paella was made with care, featuring vegan shrimp & vegan chicken protein substitutes. I will be back. Thank you for the memories.
I loved this place so much & I my family & I had such an incredible experience dining here. I don't live in Montreal so I can't come often but I would definitely would dine here on my next trip.
Too hot (38C outside) & restaurant barely has AC. Please add AC in the restaurant! Not pleasant eating in the heat. However food was amazing! We'll come back but in the winter😄.
Amazing experience! We chose to do the chef experience with lobster. The food was beyond great, & the portions were good ( keep in mind this is a sea food restaurant, not an all you can eat sushi bar, lol) The staff were so kind & welcoming we had the chance to be served outstandingly they complemted us with a porto wine from spain! It's just perfect overall & worth the price! Totally recommend
Second time going to casa Galicia & it's always amazing! Excellent food, specially seafood, excellent service, shoutout to Firo, one of the best servers I've ever encountered. Will definitely come back for the flamenco shows.
