About

Campo specializes in authentic Portuguese rotisserie chicken prepared with a signature piri-piri sauce that balances heat and acidity. The menu centers on high-quality poultry marinated for twenty-four hours before being fire-roasted to achieve crispy skin and succulent meat. Accompanying sides include thick-cut fries, fresh salads, and traditional natas that complete the culinary experience. The space functions as an efficient, fast-paced environment tailored for those seeking straightforward and flavor-forward meals without unnecessary pretense. Every component, from the tangy house-made sauces to the perfectly charred chicken, adheres to classic techniques originating from Portugal. This establishment prioritizes consistent quality and bold seasoning profiles to deliver a distinct eating experience. The focus remains strictly on accessible, well-executed grilled poultry dishes that define the menu identity.

Review Summary

Campo is widely recognized for serving flavorful, high-quality Portuguese chicken that many patrons find both delicious and tender, making it a popular choice for a casual lunch or a satisfying workday meal. While many diners praise the cozy atmosphere, the varied menu options like the poutine, ribs, and table d'hôte, and the attentive service provided by the friendly staff, experiences can be inconsistent. Some guests have encountered challenges with dry meat, varying portion sizes, and occasional lapses in service or organization, particularly during busy periods. Overall, it remains a well-regarded downtown destination for those seeking quick, authentic Portuguese flavors, even if individual visits may occasionally vary in quality.

Very tasty, a touch of spiciness, very savory & a hint of acidity. Great spot!

Great place! the food was delicious (I took a verde bowl) & the service was really friendly. The vibe was really nice, with candles on the tables & a great playlist in the background. Would definitely recommend it!

Ce fut une très belle découverte, j'aime bien le look intérieur du restaurant. Que dire du poulet à part qu'il était divin ! Il était goûteux & juteux. La présentation des plats était jolie & les portions étaient généreuses.

So I heard about this place called Time Out where it's the third place in the world where you have essentially upscale food court in a mall. This is the essentially what Time Out is, mixed with numerous other sorts of food offerings but designed & owned by top restaurateurs &/or chefs. We went to CAMPO which was been said to be one the better places to eat Portuguese rotisserie chicken. We figured that since this is the brainchild of the famous Ferreira Restaurant it must be good. The outcome. Yes it was good, not great, not amazing but good. I think Toronto has much but restaurants like this than Montreal but such is life. The food was prepared quickly in the amount of time it took to find a table to be exact. How could this be so fast? They continuously cook chickens to an almost fully cooked state, then briefly place it back on the spit to refresh it - I think, or maybe not & it sits in a warmer. I say the second because our food came more warm than hot & fresh with a crispy skin texture. Which is one main reason why it's not 5 stars. Moreover, the chicken had very minimal marinade (I imagine it's Piri Piri) & there was no offer to provide a small container of sauce for dipping which it really needed for the white meat especially since it was quite dry. I also do not like when (typically inexperienced cooks) slice into my meals protein to check for done-ness. Likely another attribute to dry chicken. Ironically the dark meat thigh was done fine but the drumstick was hard & overdone. Aside from this the size of the chicken seems much smaller than most other rotisserie in Montreal or even Toronto for that matter Fries are reasonably good considering they said they are not home made, just the portion was quite small as was the delicious salad & its dressing but so small it was almost like a second thought. The other thing is product knowledge. The whole time out is mostly filled with very young & inexperienced staff & it makes you wonder people what the quality will be. In our case the server self admittedly no idea of what the food is, how it's made, & had no sense of the product or pride in it for that matter. Somewhat of a turn off from a foodie perspective. We heard from many people that the chicken sandwich was amazing but we wanted to evaluate the chicken on its own, & perhaps smothered with other items & the sandwich roll its better I don't know. All in all reasonably good food but for the price I would not go out of my way again to eat there as they are other better places to eat. But if I were there in the building let's say, & didn't want to try all the other great food options, I may try their sandwich as a last ditch to get a hot properly cooked chicken product. All in all I expected much much more from the owners at Ferreira - it's not up to their standard at all from my experience.

Dans l'ensemble le repas était délicieux, bon service, le lieux était propre & bien décoré. Le seul bémol pour moi c'était le poulet sec mais ça a été largement compenser par les tartelettes & la pieuvre.

CAMPO FULLY LOADED BABY 🙏 . I had such an amazing experience at @campomtl the last time I was there I felt it only right to talk about it again. Honestly their restaurant is even better then the location at @timeoutmarketmontreal if that was even possible! . I couldn't really make up my mind so I had to get a little of everything as you can see here. Starting of course with a traditional Portuguese Chicken Sando. What can I say besides delicious. Great seasoned & marinated chicken really juicy. Homemade fresh traditional bread, fries perfect & crispy 10/10. . Next we have the poutine, the second time I order it & probably not going to be the last! Comes with the chicken of course, Sao Jorge Cheese which was supper fresh & yummy & some chorizo chips for some extra little crunchy bites... Mmmmmmm 🤤 . Last but not least, probably my favorite to go item not only for health but also for flavour is provably the Taro Protein Bowl. Chicken again, of course, quinoa, cucumbers, black beans, taro chips etc.... Honestly amazing flavours, great dressing to tie it all together & really a must have if u try them out next time! . If your Dt Montreal & need a lunch spot between your work day, this is Ur spot, one of my fav Portuguese spots in the city!
