We were looking for alternatives to popular Portugese chicken places while visiting Montreal & stumbled into Campo after learning they were at the Timeout Market. The meal was a bit of a disappointment overall. Ribs were dry & sauce was drizzled on. The chicken was just alright, & the potatoes had an earthy taste that I personally do not like. It's alright as a workday lunch, but left slightly disapointed during travels.
The waiting staff was excellent though. Monday evening staff was very hospitable.
Le spot parfait pour un lunch sur le pouce! La salade César au poulet est TELLEMENT bonne!!
$22 for a tiny piece of chicken, a few potatoes & they forgot the salad too, didn't get a chance to go back for it so now it's the tiniest overpriced lunch ever.
Both the bowl & the poutine were fantastic. The Portuguese chicken flavor really stood out & was clearly high quality. There can be a bit of a lunchtime rush, but the lines move quickly.
Most of the authentic Portugese churrasqueira places are huddled around the Plateau or more north than that, so Campo fills an open niche for downtown dining. This restaurant is perfectly located for an office lunch break, the casual settings allow you to get in/out at your own pace as the food is served very swiftly. The chicken was of great quality, the sauce wasn't exactly hittin but still some great meat. The sides were enjoyable too.
Best restaurant downtown for a quick satisfying lunch, or after work dinner take-out- has been my go-to for chicken salads the last several years.
I had always wanted to visit this restaurant, but had never had the chance.
I ended up going to their kiosk in the marche atwater.
I chose the chicken sandwich combo with salad & maison chips.
The salad came with such a small pot of dressing that half the salad was completely unseasoned.
The chicken was juicy, but the seasoning was strange. I didn't like it & was very disappointed, as theoretically it should be good, especially as the chicken is grilled. I left that lunch very disappointed.
Campo is a must if you want to try a Portuguese restaurant in Montreal! The chicken, bread, & fries are insane, & their salads are also so fresh & filling. The location on de Maisonneuve/Peel gets quite busy at lunch because it's so popular, I suggest arriving before noon to avoid the wait - I once waited 30 mins to get food to go but it's always worth it :)
Enjoyed the Bol Protéiné Maïs with a side of frites to go. Big portion & delicious! Highly recommend checking Campo out for lunch or dinner.
