Review Summary

Campo earns praise for its juicy Portuguese chicken, flavorful sauces, and generous sides, with a cozy vibe and attentive service noted by many, though some visits describe slower or less attentive service, portions that feel small or come a bit cold, and occasional miscommunications; the table d'hôte option offers good value and a chance to sample multiple dishes, natas are a must-try, and dishes like ribs and croquettes typically impress, while others wish for bolder spice or more consistent heat; overall Campo is a solid downtown choice for lunch or casual dinner with reasonable prices and a mix of strong and varied experiences.

The chicken thigh was moist with a slightly crispy skin. The sauce was pretty good as well. The potatoes & natas were ok. The chicken poutine was ok. Not the best I've had in Montreal.

We tried campo today for the first time & had a good experience. The food was really good we got the full chicken, a side of poutine (upgraded) & coleslaw/green salads. All the food tasted really good but I would've preferred more sauce on the chicken. There was hot sauce on the table but no peri peri sauce- I saw later that you can purchase a small container of the sauce for $1.5 so probably would do that. The service was ok, our waitress knew we didn't speak French but continued talking to us in French anyway. I assume it's an honest mistake though & she was really nice. Overall would recommend & would come back!

The chicken dishes are far from the Portuguese piri piri grilled chicken I've got to know! Chicken portions were not generous & lacked effort, the spicy portuguese signature taste was missing & chicken was dry. The waiter gave his best service he could, why I give 4/5 stars. He did check on us & later when we went to pay, we discovered they keep piri sauce on the side - was not offered. Our dinner sitting at Campo was Saturday around 7- 8.30pm

One of the best chicken places in Montreal

So I heard about this place called Time Out where it's the third place in the world where you have essentially upscale food court in a mall. This is the essentially what Time Out is, mixed with numerous other sorts of food offerings but designed & owned by top restaurateurs &/or chefs. We went to CAMPO which was been said to be one the better places to eat Portuguese rotisserie chicken. We figured that since this is the brainchild of the famous Ferreira Restaurant it must be good. The outcome. Yes it was good, not great, not amazing but good. I think Toronto has much but restaurants like this than Montreal but such is life. The food was prepared quickly in the amount of time it took to find a table to be exact. How could this be so fast? They continuously cook chickens to an almost fully cooked state, then briefly place it back on the spit to refresh it - I think, or maybe not & it sits in a warmer. I say the second because our food came more warm than hot & fresh with a crispy skin texture. Which is one main reason why it's not 5 stars. Moreover, the chicken had very minimal marinade (I imagine it's Piri Piri) & there was no offer to provide a small container of sauce for dipping which it really needed for the white meat especially since it was quite dry. I also do not like when (typically inexperienced cooks) slice into my meals protein to check for done-ness. Likely another attribute to dry chicken. Ironically the dark meat thigh was done fine but the drumstick was hard & overdone. Aside from this the size of the chicken seems much smaller than most other rotisserie in Montreal or even Toronto for that matter Fries are reasonably good considering they said they are not home made, just the portion was quite small as was the delicious salad & its dressing but so small it was almost like a second thought. The other thing is product knowledge. The whole time out is mostly filled with very young & inexperienced staff & it makes you wonder people what the quality will be. In our case the server self admittedly no idea of what the food is, how it's made, & had no sense of the product or pride in it for that matter. Somewhat of a turn off from a foodie perspective. We heard from many people that the chicken sandwich was amazing but we wanted to evaluate the chicken on its own, & perhaps smothered with other items & the sandwich roll its better I don't know. All in all reasonably good food but for the price I would not go out of my way again to eat there as they are other better places to eat. But if I were there in the building let's say, & didn't want to try all the other great food options, I may try their sandwich as a last ditch to get a hot properly cooked chicken product. All in all I expected much much more from the owners at Ferreira - it's not up to their standard at all from my experience.

CAMPO FULLY LOADED BABY 🙏 . I had such an amazing experience at @campomtl the last time I was there I felt it only right to talk about it again. Honestly their restaurant is even better then the location at @timeoutmarketmontreal if that was even possible! . I couldn't really make up my mind so I had to get a little of everything as you can see here. Starting of course with a traditional Portuguese Chicken Sando. What can I say besides delicious. Great seasoned & marinated chicken really juicy. Homemade fresh traditional bread, fries perfect & crispy 10/10. . Next we have the poutine, the second time I order it & probably not going to be the last! Comes with the chicken of course, Sao Jorge Cheese which was supper fresh & yummy & some chorizo chips for some extra little crunchy bites... Mmmmmmm 🤤 . Last but not least, probably my favorite to go item not only for health but also for flavour is provably the Taro Protein Bowl. Chicken again, of course, quinoa, cucumbers, black beans, taro chips etc.... Honestly amazing flavours, great dressing to tie it all together & really a must have if u try them out next time! . If your Dt Montreal & need a lunch spot between your work day, this is Ur spot, one of my fav Portuguese spots in the city!

Exceeds my expectations frankly! I tried the chicken sandwich combo that comes with fries & a green salad. Absolutely delicious, quantity & price are right. May be a bit crowded during peak hours which is understandable. I do recommend. Good job Campo Team 👍

I walked in a few weeks ago when I got hungry in a traffic jam. Wow they have a good chicken sandwich, & the bread is just perfect! Special thanks to Raquel who was all smiles, efficient & knows what's good customer service. Also well priced. She suggested next time if I am running late on dinner, they have frozen prepared meals: *request the prepared meal selection menu, yes of course Ferreira Portuguese specialties... Apparently the Lagareiro Octopus is the best, for approx $40...& just 7 min to warm up. Easy, Fast.

Poutine for me is the ultimate comfort food. This place does it simple & well-delicious, no complicated menu, good portion (chicken poutine with extra chicken costed me about 23.5 cad but good enough for 2 people) & friendly staff. I will definitely recommend.
