Review Summary

Reviews converge on Caffè Italia as a must visit for coffee lovers, with the cappuccino repeatedly called the standout thanks to a balanced coffee base, rich and light milk foam, a precise hint of bitterness, and a crema that lets the other flavors shine; espresso and latte are also praised for richness and smoothness, often paired with fresh pastries like cannoli, croissants, and panini such as mortadella or turkey that are described as well made. The atmosphere is repeatedly described as an authentic old school Italian cafe with a warm Little Italy vibe, friendly and efficient staff, and a bustling, popular scene that can mean waits, but the quality makes the detour worthwhile. Many reviews note good value and affordable prices for high quality drinks and bites, and some call it a local institution with a legendary status, a place that feels like a slice of Italy in Montreal. A few responses mention moments of service hiccups or occasional bitterness in a cup, but these are outliers in a generally glowing panorama of coffee culture and comforting bites.

Been wanting to try this spot for a long time & I finally did. Easily best cappuccino in Mtl! Also the cortado is tasty. Tried the panini that the barista suggested & it was super delicious as well as the cheese ciabatta. The service is friendly fast & efficient & the cannolis were fresh & out of this world !

Absolute the Best Coffee house outside of Europe. Everytime we visit Montreal this is a must stop for my wife & I. Such a great vibe at Caffe Italia. We just got back from Italy, Rome, Naples & Positano & this wonderful coffee shop could hold its own in any of those places. Besides the great coffees, they offer wonderful pastries & sandwiches. Their cannoli are simply amazing. Their croissants are also awesome. Try the Croissant Sarni.
But the coffees, oh the coffees are so amazing.
Can't wait to get back.

Caffè Italia is a fantastic spot for coffee lovers & food enthusiasts alike. Their coffee & latte are absolutely amazing, with rich flavors & perfect consistency. The biscotti & cannoli are freshly made, offering a delightful crunch & sweetness that pairs wonderfully with their drinks.

The sandwich selection is also great, with a variety of tasty options to choose from. What makes this place even better is how affordable everything is, giving you high-quality food & drinks without breaking the bank.

If you're looking for a cozy café with delicious offerings, Caffè Italia is definitely worth a visit!

Step into Caffè Italia & you'll swear you've landed in the heart of Rome-without ever leaving Montreal! 🇮🇹☕ This legendary spot on St-Laurent has been serving up authentic Italian charm & the city's best coffee since 1956, & it's still the real deal.

From the moment you walk in, you're greeted by the warm buzz of locals chatting in Italian, the aroma of rich espresso, & the sight of regulars debating soccer or catching up over cappuccinos. The old-school vibe is unbeatable-think vintage photos on the walls, friendly staff, & a crowd that feels like family.

The cappuccino here is a must-try: perfectly creamy, topped with a sprinkle of cinnamon, & as close to Italy as you'll get in Montreal. Pair it with a fresh cannoli or a classic panini & you're set for a true Little Italy experience. Outdoor seating lets you soak up the neighborhood's energy, making it the perfect spot for people-watching or a relaxing break before hitting Jean-Talon Market.

If you love authentic flavors, genuine hospitality, & a slice of Montreal history, don't miss Caffè Italia. This is more than a café-it's a local institution, & every coffee lover should experience it at least once!

Caffè Italia is a charming, old-school gem that has stood the test of time-quite literally, since 1956. The moment you step inside, you're greeted by a cozy, nostalgic atmosphere that feels like a slice of authentic Italian tradition.

I ordered their cannoli & latte, & both were absolute perfection,a perfect pairing.

Some places don't need lengthy reviews because they speak for themselves, & Caffè Italia is one of them. If you appreciate timeless quality & old-world charm, this café is a must-visit.

Good quality food with good quality ingredients. Simple, affordable, with awesome hospitality. I got the prosciutto panini & it was the best I have ever eaten. I was also able to try the cannolis & cappuccino. All were excellent. This is a must-go destination in Montreal. Try it out & have a taste.
