cafe(38) coffee(27) breakfast(17) lunch(15) nata(14) sandwiches(12) fresh(12) sandwich(12) salad(11) recommend(10) croissant(9) cozy(8)In search of heavenly pastels de nata? This is the place! We sat outside, & the smokers in the no-smoking zone diminished the otherwise wonderful experience.
We enjoyed a seat on a nice patio for more than half an hour before receiving our breakfast. Breakfast was ok but we were charged excessively for each item in the omelette & there was very little in the actual omelet.
I was out shopping & decided this looked like a nice place for a light lunch on a hot day. Unfortunately, I felt very unwelcome as a solo diner. Although it was after the noon peak, I was given the worst table right by the door despite others being available, & I felt quite ignored. I noticed that other diners had glasses with ice for their sparkling water while I was just handed a bottle, & beyond being told what table was mine & having someone unceremoniously drop my food on the table, I was largely ignored. I realize it is counter service but I also saw other guests being treated with more care. I ordered a salad trio, which was quite good in the heat when one has little appetite (it was during the heat wave). The food all looked really good, & it is obviously very popular. It would be somewhere I would return to on a future trip to Montréal if I had a more pleasant experience otherwise. 'm not sure if I hit an off day or if staff would be more friendly if I wasn't alone. I make an effort to use my French when possible, so I don't think this was the issue (although the counter staff did switch to English, which is common in Montréal if the person is bilingual). As someone who travels alone frequently, it's frustrating when I encounter this. I enjoy eating nice meals & I often go to quite good restaurants, & my experience is that the best places realize that solo diners are there to appreciate the food. I don't need a fuss at all, but I hate feeling unwelcome because I'm on my own.
I love the atmosphere of this place & people are really nice. When we were there, we kinda felt like we were in Europe. However, I didn't have a good experience with the omelet that I ordered. The taste was good & the portion was also good. But then I felt ill & my stomach hurt a lot. I believe I had something not clean. I am sure its not caused by other food because it happened before dinner time & I only had one meal that day. I don't know if I got food poisoned but it was not a great experience. Other than that terrible experience, I had a nice experience there.
Amazing service & the food is excellent! Came down for a couple drinks during F1 weekend, 10/10.
Saturday morning, opening time. Pasteis were not fresh: cold & soggy pastry...
Honestly, as we toured downtown Montreal, we found this gem...the aroma of espresso brought us in to see what they offered. Not only great coffee but fantastic omelets. WONDERFUL people working there treat you like family!
Toujours bien reçu par Jorge & son équipe ! Coup de coeur pour la salade trio & les pastel de nata :)
Absolument hors de prix pour les portions/nourriture. Bon service cependant
