Very disappointing experience. We used to enjoy the skillet omelets, which unfortunately are no longer on the menu. We ordered 2 omelets. When they arrived, they were missing ingredients that were clearly listed on the menu.
When we pointed this out, our server had to check with the manager to find out what could be done. We were famished, so while we waited for him to come back to us, we ate the fruit & potatoes from our plates.
The solution initially offered was to bring the missing ingredients on the side & adjust the price. We declined because we simply wanted the omelets prepared properly, with all of the ingredients listed on the menu.
It then took more than 30 minutes to receive the replacement omelets. I had specifically asked for a fresh piece of toast with mine because I like to eat my toast with my omelet, so mine arrived with toast. My husband's replacement was simply an omelet on a plate-no fresh toast or anything else was offered.
What was especially frustrating was that the replacement omelets were treated like new orders & prepared in the order the kitchen received them. When a restaurant makes an error with a meal, the corrected dishes should be prioritized, not put at the back of the queue while customers wait another half hour.
During that entire wait, no one offered us so much as a coffee or made any other gesture to acknowledge the inconvenience. To top it off, we were charged the full price for our meals.
Mistakes happen, & that wasn't the biggest issue. It was the way the situation was handled. Waiting more than 30 minutes for corrected omelets, after already having eaten the rest of our breakfast, with virtually no effort to make up for the inconvenience & then being charged full price, was extremely disappointing customer service.
What a wonderful surprise! Café Souvenir has a fresh new energy, & the new staff truly make all the difference. Everyone was warm, attentive, & genuinely welcoming from the moment we walked in.
The service was fast, friendly, & professional, creating such a relaxed atmosphere. The food was delicious, the coffee was excellent, & you can really tell the team cares about providing a great customer experience.
It's great to see this neighborhood favorite thriving with such a fantastic new team. Highly recommend stopping by if you're on Bernard Street-you won't be disappointed. Looking forward to coming back soon!
