Café Replika is widely appreciated as a cozy and inviting neighborhood destination, known for its high-quality coffee, specialty drinks like the London Fog, and delicious food items such as the borek and various pastries. Many visitors find the atmosphere perfectly suited for working, studying, or relaxing, often noting the pleasant background energy and thoughtful aesthetic. While experiences regarding the service and environment can vary depending on personal taste, the establishment remains a popular choice for those seeking a space to enjoy a warm beverage and a quiet moment in the city.
I got an Americano & it was somewhere between strong & extremely diluted. Every single sip was a new drink it was not an enjoyable experience. My friend got the matcha & it was even worse. WAY too watery & more milk than matcha. Even with the 6 ice cubes the waitress put in there, it was a warm drink at best. The service was not that bad & the atmosphere is nice if you want to study, but if you're looking for a good coffee, don't go here.
My husband & I stopped in last Friday evening after a long day of wandering around Old Montreal, & Café Replika turned out to be exactly what we needed. The Turkish coffee was absolutely wonderful, strong & served the traditional way with a little square of lokum on the side. Our server was so warm & patient, taking time to explain the menu even though the place was getting busy. We will definitely be back next time we are in the city, & we would recommend it to anyone looking for a cozy spot to rest their feet.
I visited twice, & unfortunately the overall atmosphere just wasn't for me. Both times, the vibe felt a bit gloomy & unwelcoming. The baristas & cashier didn't seem very friendly or engaged, which made the experience feel less inviting.
The décor has a very dark, moody aesthetic with artwork featuring animals that looked almost dead on the inside & muted grey tones. While I understand that's likely an intentional artistic style, it gave me a somber feeling & wasn't the kind of environment I personally enjoy. More than the artwork itself, it was the overall energy of the space that felt heavy to me.
I think customer service makes such a big difference in creating a welcoming environment. I really value being greeted with kindness, friendliness, & a smile. I understand that everyone has difficult days, & maintaining that energy all the time can be challenging, but those small interactions really impact the customer experience.
I won't be returning, but I truly hope you continue improving the atmosphere & experience for others. It may simply be a difference in taste or culture, but I personally prefer spaces that feel warm, welcoming, & uplifting.
This is, of course, just my personal impression, & others who enjoy a darker, more artistic ambiance may have a different experience.
Undisputedly the best cafe in town. Great coffee & SUPER friendly staff. Not to disregard any other reviews but I've been coming here for the last 5 years, I've seen the shift between staff & all & never was I ever disappointed. I mean aside from the price increase lol but that comes with owning & growing your business. Never a dull moment & never a disappointment. Love you guys!
Brought my golden retriever Biscuit here last Saturday & was thrilled to find a genuinely welcoming spot where dogs are actually encouraged, not just tolerated. The staff brought out a little bowl of water for him without us even asking, which instantly won us over. I had the croque monsieur & it was honestly one of the better ones I've had in the city, nice & crispy with a good amount of cheese. If you're a dog owner hunting for a place to settle in for a couple hours on a weekend morning, Café Replika is exactly what you're looking for.
