The coffee was good, & the café itself has a nice atmosphere & beautiful design. However, my experience working with my laptop there in the morning was unfortunately not very pleasant.
After about an hour, a staff member asked me to move from my table & share a small table with my friend who was also working, so they could free up my table for other customers. The shared table was quite tight & didn't seem comfortable for two people working. I politely explained that I would prefer to stay where I was, but she continued to insist. The way the situation was handled felt quite pushy & made me feel uncomfortable & unwelcome, almost as if I was being encouraged to leave to make room for other customers.
Overall, the café has good coffee & a nice design, but based on my experience, I wouldn't recommend it as a place to sit & work. The environment was also fairly noisy, & I didn't find it particularly welcoming for customers who wanted to work for a while.
A true gem amidst the coffee shops, Paper Hill stands out for all the right reasons! I will always come here if I can
Selma, the female owner, is super welcoming to her chic, calm & sophisticated cafe. Her staff is friendly, fast & professional. A great spot to concentrate on work or take a break from work in the laptop free outdoor patio. Thanks Maris of The Montréal Guide for discovering & sharing it. Thank you Selma for inviting me to your beautiful café.
Vanilla latte on ice was one of the best coffee drinks I've ever had - will drink everyday while visiting Montreal.
After one week in Montreal, I have found the quality of coffee & atmosphere I enjoy the most.
The maple syrup latte was great. All three elements came through strong.
My wife was tentative about getting matcha since we've been disappointed in Montreal so far... but this one did it. We both rate it highly.
I've found coffee culture in the city different than I'm used to so I was pleasantly surprised to find this one. Paper Hill offers two types: a book/study area & an outdoor terrace facing a quiet courtyard shielded from traffic noise. Personally, I like sitting outside in a quiet atmosphere.
In all, the best coffee experience I've had in Montreal.
Stopped by on our way out of Montreal. But we will have to return for a proper sit down breakfast next time BECAUSE The French toast looks amazing. I grabbed Montreal smoked salmon & cream cheese bagel, a croissant & the GOAT breakfast sandwich with two lattes & a lemonade.
The coffee is superb. The smoked salmon cream cheese bagel, was the best I've ever tried. The GOAT is your classic breakfast sandwich but with great crispy bacon & the croissanwich bread was perfect.
There is lots of big open space to sit & chat or do some work. The back patio is lap top free & has a nice view of all the buildings. If you're into architecture it's a pretty contrast. There are family bathrooms just outside the inside doors of the cafe.
Le chai latte est très bon, le lieux très agréable pour travailler, il est lumineux & confortable. Le wifi fonctionne bien.
