Review Summary

Reviews depict Café Ô Tagine as a tiny, cozy Moroccan spot in Montreal with a warm, welcoming vibe and very reasonable prices. Dishes like tajine, couscous, merguez, pastilla, msemen and mint tea are praised for rich, traditional flavors and tender components. Many readers highlight perfectly braised beef and lamb, as well as flavorful tagines and memorable desserts, while noting the intimate, charming atmosphere despite the small size. Several comments mention attentive, friendly service and a family vibe that enhances the experience. A few critiques point to small portions, occasional long waits, and some dishes not meeting expectations or authenticity, such as pastilla or items that felt less traditional. Overall the place is described as a hidden gem by many, a go to for Moroccan comfort food, with a memorable aroma and a welcoming staff that invites guests to linger. The spirit is affordable, home style cooking that tends to leave diners eager to return and try more dishes.

I don't recommend this place. The pastilla wasn't right, hard top dough, dry chicken, & I'm not even sure there were almonds. The sandwich was unevenly heated & had grated cheese. We kept hearing the microwave the whole time, which explains the quality. They also sell arancini & samosas despite being a Moroccan place, so overall it didn't feel authentic or well-prepared.

My friends & I were visiting Montréal & we decided to look for a Moroccan restaurant. Café Ô Tajine was highly rated so we came here. One of my friends is a pescatarian, but she had no problem finding something to eat on the menu. My friends ate vegetable samosas & the falafel sandwiches. The falafel sandwich was in a wrap & it was served grilled like a panini. I had a vegetable platter with potatoes, carrots, onions, peas & green olives over couscous. It was delicious. My friends loved the falafel wraps & the samosas. We would definitely eat here again if we visit Montreal again.

The place is very small with seating for maybe 12-14 people. The staff was very friendly & welcoming. They chatted with us & by the time we were ready to leave, we were all laughing & joking with the staff. If you live in the area or visiting from out of town & you are looking for a small Moroccan restaurant with a casual atmosphere, i would recommend that you try Café Ô Tajine.

A small place. If you do not know about it you would almost miss it. Did not have tanjine, takes longer to cook. Just a chicken sandwich. There is a choice of restaurants on this stretch of Rue Ontario. Moroccan is not easy to find in my city. The sandwich was fine, I would have liked more green vegetables. In retrospect , I should have picked something more Moroccan.

We had a wonderful dining experience at Café O Tajine in Montreal! The atmosphere was warm & inviting, & the food was absolutely delicious. We especially enjoyed the tajine - boeuf braisé aux pruneaux - the beef was incredibly tender & perfectly complemented by the sweetness of the prunes. The pastilla was also a highlight, with its flaky pastry & rich, flavorful filling. To finish it all off, the thé à la menthe was refreshing & authentic, served just the way it should be. Highly recommend this spot for anyone craving traditional Moroccan cuisine!

Beautiful little Moroccan restaurant & cafe! The chicken sandwich is incredible, as are the selection of desserts, but the real surprise was the mint tea -- absolutely delicious! The family running this place are also so sweet & kind & welcoming. Will definitely be back again soon!

Family-owned & run restaurant with the mother at the back prepping the meals by hand. I came here for an authentic moroccan culinary experience & I was not disappointed. From couscous, pickled olives, mint tea & any Moroccan delight you crave. I love the location & it felt like a bistro style moroccan shop restaurant.
