Cafe Fernanda comes across as a welcoming neighborhood spot in Mile End with a cozy, European inspired vibe and a warm host. The coffee program features robust espressos, creamy cortados, bold cappuccinos, and a standout matcha, while the pastry case is famed for pasteis de nata imported from Portugal, described as flaky with a creamy center, alongside other treats and a savory grilled cheese option. The atmosphere blends quiet study space with occasional liveliness, and power outlets plus comfy seating make it a good spot to work or relax, though music volume is sometimes noted as too loud. Service is regularly praised as friendly, attentive, and genuinely welcoming, with stories of staff going the extra mile to accommodate requests or fetch fresh bread for a grilled cheese. Decor and ambience mix rustic Portuguese charm with modern touches, creating a cozy space that invites lingering and conversation. Some reviews mention minor inconsistencies such as drinks arriving lukewarm or certain pastries not meeting expectations, but the overall impression remains a charming cafe experience with top notch natas and solid coffee.
I absolutely LOVE this little café. In the middle of a neighbourhood that is favoured with good cafés, this is my favourite ... & I've tried lots of them. Fernanda is Portuguese in flavour & you can certainly indulge your craving for a Pastel de Nata, but there are other treats too. For a light lunch, have a Portuguese grilled cheese including sun-dried tomato with optional chorizo or ham. Coffee or tea of course.
Pierre is a wonderful host. You'll enjoy your visit. Olå
Mignon café avec ambiance agréable. Service super ! Nous avons pris un latté, un moka, des nata, un carré aux pacanes & un grilled cheese. Formats des cafés un peu petits mais tout était délicieux. Je recommande.

I never write reviews, but I am leaving one for this cafe for the exceptional service! My daughter & I have visited a number of times. On one occasion we asked for a grilled cheese, but they just had run out of bread - they actually ran to a nearby bakery to get bread just to make us a grilled cheese! Another time, they told us we could wait a few minutes if we wanted a pastel de nata fresh out of the oven, instead of serving us one behind the glass. This cafe is easy to miss because of the tiny entryway, but I am always impressed by the warm & friendly atmosphere, & the beautiful lighting. We went back again today, & we were amazed when the owner walked over holding my daughter's stuffed animal that we must have left months ago! Not only did he remember who it belonged to, but he made my daughter's day by describing how he had fed her food & water, & kept her cozy while she waited. The grilled cheese is great, & so are the desserts & drinks! I love the matcha. We give this cafe five stars! :D
This café is seriously flying under the radar, & I can't figure out why. It's the kind of place you might walk past without noticing, just because there are so many options around. But once you step inside, you're greeted with a warm welcome by the amazing staff!
Their selection of coffees is great, & their pastries? Top notch. If you ever get the chance to visit, make sure to try their pasteis de nata, you won't regret it! ⭐?
Café Fernanda is a lovely new addition to the Mile End neighborhood, & it's already becoming one of my favorite spots. From the moment you step inside, you're greeted with a warm, cozy & inviting ambiance. The minimalist decor strikes a perfect balance-simple & uncluttered, yet full of warmth & thoughtful touches. The food is fresh, flavorful, & made with care. The coffee is just as impressive.
What truly sets Café Fernanda apart, though, is the hospitality. The host is welcoming & genuinely friendly, making you feel more like a guest in their home than a customer. It's the kind of place where you'll want to linger. Highly recommend.
Fantastic service & really great atmosphere! The food & coffee was delicious - best natas in Montreal, i was told they are shipped straight from Portugal! Carrot cake was also excellent as was our coffee. The owner & staff are very nice, will definitely be back soon. You can tell they really care & put effort into all the food, decor, etc.
As a side note, I love tinned fish & haven't found any cafes in Montreal that sell it until now, so next time I am looking forward to picking up some of their selection!
My boyfriend & I found this little hidden gem while on a walk around the neighbourhood. We were greeted with a warm welcome by the owner of the café who gave us amazing service! We had to try their natas, which are imported directly from Portugal, & had a wonderful coffee & matcha. Definitely will be coming back, & recommend this café to anyone looking for a cute & warm environment!
The best of the recent spawn of new cafes in the neighbourhood: the coffee has the nice neutral earthier taste that I've been seeking (after years of the fruitier 3rd wave coffees); the food is quite nice for the right price (même des jo-louis maison qu'ils appellent des'jean-louis') ; the Portuguese decor is charming & the shop is cozy, especially in the company of the owner & the staff that are genuinely kind.

Cafe Fernanda is a welcoming café unfortunately the food & drinks are pretty average, we tried the grilled cheese & the iced macha which was pretty watery!
Nestled in the heart of the city, Café Fernanda is a delightful gem that offers an authentic taste of Portugal right on your doorstep. From the moment you step inside, you're greeted by a warm & inviting atmosphere that feels like a cozy home away from home.
The décor is charming, with rustic wooden tables, vibrant tiles, & soft lighting that creates a welcoming ambiance.
Will definitely be back 🇵🇹🇵🇹
Pierre was warm & welcoming as it happened also to be a very quiet day. I love this little cafe. Very eclectic with touches of Portugal, Natas, imported sardines & Portuguese delicacies. Music is soft & current, old world oil paintings on the walls & interspersed with black & white photos of seaside villages in Portugal.
I enjoyed my book, & a delectable hot London Fog tea.
I would have stayed all day but had some doggies that needed me.
I love the vibes & the service is always good! Quality of cafe & food , I definitely recommend if you want to spend a nice time with friends & go working as well.
