I love cats & I have been to several cat cafés. However, it was a bit of a mediocre experience. First things first, I appreciate that one of the rules is that we have to wash our hands before entering the actual Cafe which is fantastic to avoid contamination from outside to the cats. However there is a litter box that is located in the female washroom, however the door of the washroom is closed therefore the cats cannot actually enter in the washroom while clients are there. The litter box itself smelled so strongly of urine, the smell literally struck you the second you open the door. The smell is also very present in the cafe itself, which was a little surprising considering the other cafes I've been in have not had such a strong sense. I suggest perhaps some incense or potpourri in different areas of the cafe to help with the smell. Finally we ordered a latte & a cat puccino. My latte was basically cold coffee mixed with milk mixed with ice cubes & that was it, we even had to ask for sugar straws & spoons. The cats are adorable, which is obviously the main attraction. But the cafe aspect of the Cat Cafe was very mediocre...
My partner & I visited Happy Cat Cafe today while on a trip to Montreal. The food was delicious with great service & the cats were adorable. Will definitely return here on our next visit!
So great. Cats just roam around & enjoy being petted. Paw prints on the cappuccino were adorable! Food was very tasty & interesting, in general. A must visit on any trip to Montreal.
Great concept. They make you wash your hands when you enter before you pet the cats. Went on a Friday evening, until closing time, not busy. The staff are good at noticing people who might be petting cats too harshly & looked ready to intervene. Great way to get a date night started !
Sign at the door says to wait to be seated but you actually have to walk in & ask for assistance (don't trust the sign lol). The iced mocha was great but lumpy from the melted chocolate & the iced pistachio latte was really not good. The real killer here was the smell. I've owned cats & nothing can justify the stench in the café. When I thought things couldn't get worse, I entered the washroom & the fumes alone could kill you: It smells terrible. I felt like my hands were cleaner before I washed them in that washroom. Avoid the washroom at all cost. I lost my appetite from the smell so I can't comment on the food. The cats were cute, the service was okay (though I had to ask them to please take my order) & I like the neighbourhood.
It's a nice & cozy cafe. Great place to go if you love cats. The cats there are friendly but you are reminded to be gentle with them. The only downside is the actual drinks. We had the ice tea & the iced latte & they were decent. Nothing to rave about but just acceptable drinks. It could have been better. Apart from that, the experience was great & I would love to go back if I visit the city again.
Learning more towards 4.25/4.5 as a rating as opposed to a whole 5 star for a few reasons, mostly related to the bathroom ventilation & smell. I have come to the cat ccaf multiple times over the years, the grilled cheese are all delicious & the desserts too. The coffee isn't amazing or the best I've ever had but it's still tasty, the staff is very polite & kind which is very appreciated. During the rush hours (noon to two pm) there are a lot of kids so the café is very loud & the service is slower but it's still tolerable, the cats don't really come out as often or move around at that time for obvious reasons but they are the most active in my experience from 4 to 6pm (& it's also much less noisy). The cat café is lovely & I'll continue to be a semi-regular visitor. The price includes a cat care fee.
So many cute & friendly cats!! The drinks were not great but I guess that's not the draw of the cafe ... XD. Super cozy, would recommend for cat lovers! 🐾
